Despite how modern the remake of Resident Evil 4 is, someone has decided to give protagonist Leon Kennedy a classic look that's more inline with an older entry in Capcom's iconic survival horror series. While some would argue that not every video game needs a remake or remaster, the current gaming climate is capable of revitalizing some beloved releases, giving them a new lease on life, and Resident Evil has been no exception. But before this modern take on the critically acclaimed fourth entry launches, there's the demo for fans to try out.

Since it released not long ago, modders have been tinkering with the Resident Evil 4 demo, extending the play time, making inaccessible areas available for exploration, or just straight up adding Shrek into the horror game. Leave it to the modding community to stretch as much as it can out of a release, even if it's a demonstration. Things don't end there either, as fans of the upcoming RE4 remake can now be taken back to the older days of the franchise.

Nexus Mods user TrieuPham has recently created a new look for Leon with a mod for the Resident Evil 4 demo that gives the legendary character his Raccoon Police Department uniform. Many will see it as a throwback to the rookie cop's first appearance way back when the second RE game came out in 1998. While the uniform has been lifted from the Resident Evil 2 remake, it still gives Leon that classic look that some older gamers associate with the protagonist. It also serves as a reminder that, as well as being an action star tasked with rescuing the President's daughter, Leon is first and foremost an officer of the law, and that's how many fans still remember him.

While there are a lot of heroes and villains that have become iconic in the series, Leon Kennedy is considered by many to be one of the best Resident Evil characters ever. He's been popular with fans since RE2, returning for additional installments, including 2005's RE4, which is one of the most celebrated games in the Resident Evil brand.

With early reviews showing that the remake of Resident Evil 4 is fantastic, plenty of gamers are looking forward to the full release. In the meantime, there's still the demo to keep fans entertained, and with all these mods for it, there's even more reason to get lost in the trial version of this highly anticipated survival horror reimagining.

Resident Evil 4 releases on March 24, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
