The Nemesis monster is often considered one of the scariest enemies in the entire Resident Evil franchise, which is why it's the focal point of Resident Evil 3. For the Resident Evil 3 remake, Capcom kept Nemesis pretty much the same as fans remember from the original game, but with some changes. One of the changes Capcom made to Nemesis directly ties the monster's origins to Resident Evil 4, as revealed in a recent interview.

PlayStation's Tim Turi interviewed some of Resident Evil 3's development staff about the Nemesis monster. In this interview it was explained that Nemesis was given the ability to infect zombies with parasites because of the Ganado in Resident Evil 4, which are infected with the Las Plagas parasite. The NE-a parasite in Resident Evil 3 was created by Umbrella to mimic the Plagas parasite from Resident Evil 4. "We wanted NE-a infected enemies to be visually similar to the Plagas-infected Ganados as a means for fans to piece together how Nemesis fits within the whole Resident Evil franchise."

While Capcom's goal was to help Nemesis better fit into the Resident Evil franchise, it seems like it really makes Resident Evil 4 better fit into the narrative. As some may recall, Resident Evil 4's connection to the other games in the series is minimal at best, with the plot being largely standalone for the most part, sweeping the Umbrella conflict under the rug in the opening moments. Having Nemesis be partly created because of the Plagas parasite gives the plot of Resident Evil 4 much more significance to the overall storyline that it had previously.

Rumors indicate that Capcom is pursuing a Resident Evil 4 remake next, so it will be interesting to see what other changes could be in store. Perhaps Capcom will use the Resident Evil 4 remake as an opportunity to add more story content to the game that helps it feel more like a true Resident Evil 4, as opposed to a game that is mostly unrelated to the larger Resident Evil  narrative.

Before the Resident Evil 4 remake, though, it's expected that Capcom is going to release Resident Evil 8. Rumors have been swirling about what all Resident Evil 8 may entail, but no concrete details have been announced at the time of this writing.

Some reliable leakers have claimed that the Resident Evil 8 reveal was originally going to happen this month, so maybe fans won't have to wait too much longer to find out more.

Resident Evil 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
