Several weeks ago, Capcom revealed that the highly-anticipated remake of Resident Evil 3 will be getting a playable demo similar to Resident Evil 2 and 7. However, while the initial announcement did excite fans who are patiently waiting for the game, Capcom did not reveal when the demo is releasing until now.

In a short preview clip, Capcom finally unveiled the release date of Resident Evil 3's demo, which will fall on March 19 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As of the moment, Capcom Unity's announcement in its blog did not specify whether Resident Evil 3's demo will be similar to Resident Evil 2's 30-minute one-shot preview. However, this specific detail still remains to be seen and luckily, the official preview is only a few days away.

As for specific details about the demo itself, Capcom confirmed that the preview will be played from the perspective of Jill Valentine, which is not at all surprising given that she is the main heroine of the game. However, it is worth remembering that in Resident Evil 7's demo, the preview was played from the perspective of other characters and did not feature the main protagonist Ethan Winters. Many speculated that this could be a possibility in Resident Evil 3's demo but the recent announcement confirms that players will control Jill in the preview.

Additionally, Capcom teased players on what to expect in the upcoming demo. In its Capcom Unity blog, the studio revealed that the preview will be a "slice of the full game," which will re-imagine Jill's desperate escape from the doomed Raccoon City. Capcom also noted that while Resident Evil 3 is more action-oriented than Resident Evil 2, players would still need to conserve their ammo and items if they want to stand a chance of surviving.

Meanwhile, the latest trailer for Resident Evil 3's demo also revealed an important announcement for Resident Evil Resistance. According to Capcom, the asymmetrical co-op game will begin open beta testing on March 27. The open beta will give players the chance to try out the new game, which will consist of four players who must work together as Survivors and survive the traps and monsters set by the player-controlled Mastermind.

To the uninitiated, Resident Evil Resistance will be launched within Resident Evil 3, replacing the main game's Mercenaries Mode. Moreover, although Resident Evil Resistance is set in the same universe as Resident Evil 3, the events that will transpire in the game are deemed as non-canon.

Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil Resistance are scheduled to release on April 3, 2020.
