Capcom announced the remake of Resident Evil 3 last month and debuted the collector's edition that will come alongside the game. Announced in the United States, the collector's edition of Resident Evil 3 will come with a physical copy of the game, a printed art book, a printed map of Raccoon City, the old fashioned chest case for the game, and a Jill Valentine statue. The collector's edition outside the US comes with mostly the same pieces, but the difference comes from a very small detail regarding the soundtracks.

The Resident Evil 3 collector's edition that will be available for European, Middle Eastern, and some African countries comes with all of the previously mentioned items. The difference between the two editions is that while the American version has a digital version of the soundtrack for download, the non-US version of the game has two CDs of the soundtrack. All of the physical things in the collector's edition will stay the same like the map of Raccoon City and the statue. The soundtrack change is not a drastic difference for consumers but enough to notice.

The Resident Evil 3 collector's editions will only be available at participating retailers, so consumers will not be able to purchase one from anywhere else. They will have to find the storefront that carries them if they would like to obtain the US version or the non-US version, depending on where they are when the game is released.

Consumers looking to have the maximum amount of physical things to collect from these editions may seek out the non-US versions on eBay to and pay more for the non-US version than they would for the US version. The two versions also have about a $100 price difference between them from the retailers with the US version retailing at $179.99 and the UK version retailing at 214.99 British Pounds. Some collector's editions are sold on eBay for a bit of a markup, but it is unclear what sellers might do with the difference between the two versions.

It is not unheard of for one version of a collector's edition to be released in the US and another version released outside of the US. It is not currently known why Capcom decided to make this change.

Resident Evil 3 is set to release April 3, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
