Several days ago, the Resident Evil franchise celebrated its 25th anniversary. In celebration of this incredible milestone, Capcom announced that it would be hosting an anniversary event next month, filled with all sorts of Resident Evil-related announcements.

Unfortunately, Capcom didn't reveal much about what the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase will entail. However, given that several Resident Evil projects on the way, here are predictions of what Capcom could announce on April's Resident Evil Showcase event.

Release of Resident Evil Village's Second Demo

During the last Resident Evil Showcase event held in January, Capcom announced Resident Evil Village's first playable demo called Maiden. Unfortunately for some players, the Maiden Demo was only made available to the PS5, and those on the PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S were unable to play the sneak peek of the upcoming game.

According to recent reports, it looks as though a new demo for Resident Evil Village will be released soon. The reports claim that the next demo will contain some gameplay features from Resident Evil Village's final build. In a Twitter post, Business Manager for Limited Run Games said that Capcom confirmed another demo's existence, which will be more detailed in terms of gameplay, especially when compared to Maiden, which was described as "purely a visual demo."

Assuming that the reports are true, it is likely that, similar to the Maiden Demo, the second demo for Resident Evil Village will be announced at the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase event. Additionally, because the event will launch at least a month before the release of the latest game, the second demo will likely be available to all platforms where Resident Evil Village will be released. All players will be given a chance to try out the game before its launch on May 7th.

New Trailers for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and Infinite Darkness

Apart from Resident Evil Village, two non-gaming projects are also expected to be released this year. For those unaware, the Resident Evil franchise is getting a film reboot called Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and a Netflix animated series called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. For the past few months, images from the set of Welcome to Raccoon City were leaked, and based on what was shown so far, it is obvious that the upcoming film was inspired by the aesthetics of Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Moreover, it has been confirmed that Welcome to Raccoon City will be more faithful to the games, especially in comparison to the first Resident Evil film franchise by Paul W.S. Anderson. However, a trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is still being kept under wraps. The first preview of the movie may premiere at the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase event. As far as Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness is concerned, it is likely that a second trailer alongside the confirmation of its release date will be revealed at the event.

Announcement of Resident Evil Revelations 3 and Resident Evil 4 Remake

Lastly, it is possible that Capcom would want to tease fans on what to expect from the Resident Evil video game franchise after the release of Resident Evil Village in May. Currently, two games are rumored to be in development: One of which is Resident Evil Revelations 3, which will reportedly be called Resident Evil Outrage. According to a notable Resident Evil leaker, Resident Evil Outrage will be released within a year of Village's launch, which could fall in late 2020 or early 2021. Fans should note that Capcom still hasn't confirmed this game's existence, so players should take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Lastly, the upcoming event could also tease the long-rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake. Ever since the release of Resident Evil 3 Remake last year, fans have speculated on which Resident Evil game Capcom will remake next. Although the studio still hasn't confirmed if another remake is in development, many believe that it will be Resident Evil 4, given its wide appeal and popularity. Similar to Resident Evil Outrage,Resident Evil 4 Remake remains unconfirmed, and fans shouldn't really hold their breath for a full-on announcement of these games. Capcom would likely want to focus the spotlight on the forthcoming release of Resident Evil Village.
