How Did Gobrou Die in His Past Life?

Although many isekai protagonists start with an overpowered human body, Gobrou, once human, wakes up in a new world as a Goblin. In his previous life, he was known as Tomokui Kanata, who had a rare Esper ability called Absorption. While he could use the new abilities of items he had eaten, he was also skilled in various combat styles.

However, one fateful day, Tomokui Kanata was mercilessly killed by Kirimine Aoi, a woman he once saved when she was younger. He would describe her as a stalker; however, she was like a sister to him. Before his untimely death, Tomokui Kanata was invited out for drinks by a coworker called Kiritsubo Mayumi. However, as the night progressed, Mayumi indulged a little too much in alcohol, and Kanata took her home to rest.

Before Kanata made his way home, he went to the convenience store to purchase some alcohol to end his night; this is where he met Kirimine Aoi, who strangely seemed to be waiting for him. As mentioned above, Kanata viewed Aoi as somewhat of a sister, and because of this, he had no real reason to be on guard towards her. However, this would be his downfall as Aoi quickly stabbed him in the stomach with a B-rank electrified knife called the Nenekaruri.

While standard weapons would pose no harm to Kanata, as he has previously undergone surgery to become a strengthened man, after being stabbed by the Nenekaruri, each time the electrified blade cut into him, it would leave him paralyzed and unable to protect himself. This is how Tomokui Kanata dies and becomes Gobrou, a Goblin in a new world.

Gobrou’s New Life as a Goblin

re-monster-gobrou-goblin

After meeting his end in his previous world, Tomokui Kanata was gifted a new name, Gobrou, by the elder Goblin within the Goblin community. In this new world, goblins age fairly quickly, and after a few days, Gobrou will mature into a full goblin. However, while previously newly born Goblins will be fed bugs, fully matured Goblins will need to find their own food and venture into the forest.

In doing so, this system will accomplish two things: the newly matured Goblins will learn to hunt, scavenge, and become independent, and they will begin to level up. After being born into this new world, Gobrou learns he has maintained his Esper ability: Absorption. Thanks to this, he can quickly level up to Hobgoblin, a new variant of Goblin, after reaching level 100. With this, he was also blessed by the Great God of Origin and Demise.

Soon, Gobrou takes advantage of this opportunity to absorb as many abilities as possible, thus evolving into an Orge on Day 34. However, he also takes advantage of the less intelligent goblins to help him level up faster. While he takes advantage of the other goblins, combining his brain with their brawns, he, along with the other goblin, Gobkichi, levels up before the other goblins have a chance of doing so. However, this also brings a new evolution and a new name. Therefore, the elder goblin renames Gobrou to Ogrou. Ogrou will continue to level up to an Apostle Lord and finally a Vajrayaksa Overlord with his newfound power.

Gobrou’s relationships and ventures

As Gobrou, now Ogrou, continues to level up, he encourages the Goblin community to follow his lead and continue to level up, and thus he becomes the leader of the community. However, as it is the nature of Goblins, the previous generation kidnaps human women to bear the children of the next line of Goblins. Ogrou, who was once human, takes pity on these human women and decides to keep them safe while deciding what to do with them.

This decision greatly benefits him as soon as the human women learn Jobs like Cooking, Swordsmithing, and Alchemy that assist the Goblin community. After some time, he also takes them on as his lovers, after which they will bear his children. After this, Ogrou grows his Goblin community, welcoming Kobolds and Elves to form the Parabellum Mercenary group. With this mercenary group, Ogrou will increase the community's income by taking on missions to expand his base.

When Ogrou appeared in the new world, his main goal was to learn more about his surroundings and regain all his previously lost abilities. However, once acclimating to this new world, he learned he would continue to evolve as a goblin if he ate more powerful monsters. However, his main plan was not to take over the Goblin community; while they had intelligence, the goblins needed to have the kind of leader that of which Ogrou could offer them.

However, it’s likely due to eating one of the monsters that Ogrou unconsciously decided to take on a leadership role in the community and was unsatisfied with the leadership of the previous generation of goblins. After growing his community to the Parabellum Mercenary group, Ogrou will continue to advance the community's living situation by renovating hot springs, cultivating farms, and developing relationships with other species.
