Remnant 2 has taken its successful predecessor, Remnant: From The Ashes, and improved on the already stellar title in a number of ways. One of the most appealing aspects of the game is its numerous character classes, or Archetypes. These are either available to choose from the start, or are discoverable by completing various challenges throughout the game.

Remnant 2 does not shy away from providing players with a significant challenge, regardless of the difficulty settings. As such, it's important to equip characters with the right gear and level up as soon as possible. This can be a grueling grind, but there are some ways to speed up the process. Here are some tips on how to farm XP and level up Archetypes fast.

Use Items That Boost XP

Mudtooth's Elixir from Remnant 2

There are a number of items and consumables that can increase the percentage of XP that players earn from completing various actions and combat feats. The three most notable XP buffers in Remnant 2 are Mudtooth's Elixir, the Sagestone Ring, and the Scholar Trait.

Mudtooth's Elixir

Mudtooth has established himself as one of the most important NPCs in Ward 13 when it comes to added bonuses and secrets that can strengthen a player's loadout. From Archetype items to a number of useful concoctions, the old man is worth visiting whenever players return to the game's base.

Mudtooth's Elixir is one of the best ways to earn quick experience points. Players can purchase a bottle for just 500 Scrap, and it will grant a 15% increase in experience gained for a full hour once consumed, even if a player dies. Much like certain Archetypes that must be unlocked, this item won't be available straight away, so it's worth checking the vendor's stock each time players visit Ward 13.

Sagestone Ring

One of the most valuable rings in Remnant 2 also happens to be one of the trickiest to find. The Sagestone Ring can be found in the jungle world of Yaesha, but its exact location is unclear. The ring is randomly dropped at any of the locations in Yaesha, so it won't be found in the same place by two players, or even in two different re-rolls. The ring has been known to spawn in areas such as the Lament and Endaira's End, but there is no definitive location for this item.

The biggest benefit of the Sagestone Ring is that it is a permanent buff as long as the player has the item equipped. While in use, this ring will provide a 10% increase in experience gained, so it is worth making this item a priority in any loadout.

The Scholar Trait

Scholar trait won't help players succeed in completing their first run through Remnant 2's main storyline, but it is a useful perk for players looking to level up particular Archetypes or tackle the game at a higher difficulty. To unlock this trait, players will need to beat the game's final boss.

The Scholar trait provides a 1% boost in player experiencegained at its lowest level, which increases to a staggering 15% at its peak level of 10. Combined with the Sagestone Ring, players will have a significant boost in XP gain on a permanent basis, making it far easier to max out each Archetype's power ratings.

Adventure Mode & Harder Difficulty Settings

Remnant 2's Adventure Mode is one of the most user-friendly additions to the title, enabling players to explore the worlds of the game without impacting the progress of their campaign. By allowing infinite re-rolls of the various maps, players can explore environments with a fresh perspective or revisit previously conquered areas. They can battle bosses again, solve puzzles, and collect any rare items that may have been missed or unavailable on the campaign's active map layout.

Adventure Mode is an excellent way for players to quickly level up their characters. With Adventure Mode, players can revisit areas full of enemies that will provide a well-needed XP boost. This way, players can prepare themselves for any challenging aspects of the campaign, such as a boss battle or combat engagement they are ill-prepared for.

Naturally, gamers that seek the greatest challenges should earn the greatest rewards. Particular items and boosts become available in the harder difficulty game modes and Hardcore mode. What's more, players are granted more XP for their feats of skill throughout the game. As such, deciding to increase the difficulty of a campaign or adventure will passively create a boost in XP gains. Combining these two methods of XP farming is particularly effective if players know which areas and worlds to focus on.

Areas In Remnant 2 With High XP Value

A number of events and areas in Remnant 2 are particularly ripe with opportunities for players to accumulate XP in huge numbers. Two of them in particular, the Chimney and the Great Hall, are especially worthy of replaying multiple times to increase Archetype levels.

The Chimney Descent Event

In the jungle world of Yaesha, players will encounter the Chimney area, which will lead them to a challenging sequence at its end. After pulling the lever at the top of the stairs, players must race down the spiral staircase against a lethal energy field that descends from the ceiling. To make this more challenging, the energy field is also present below to stop players from getting too far ahead. Numerous enemies will climb out of the walls to block the walkways and cause damage.

This event is a great source of XP, as players will deal with an endless swarm of enemies as they attempt to reach the bottom of the staircase. This will be particularly useful when using any of the XP-strengthening items mentioned above, and it can be replayed multiple times to maximize the amount of experience gained. XP gained while attempting this run is not lost when a player dies, so it is a worthwhile investment to intentionally fail a few times to get more opportunities at the hordes of Root monsters.

The Great Hall Feast Event

Regarded by many as an XP smorgasbord as big as the feast of rotten food on the table, the Great Hall feast event in the world of Losomn is a gold mine for those on the hunt for a quick boost in experience points. With the right tactic and a group of companions, players can amass thousands of XP in a matter of minutes and can replay the scenario multiple times to maximize their prize.

The feast event is triggered by a player eating the rotted food, as instructed by the monster seated at the table. Upon doing so, players will be triggered into a ravenous frenzy that will sap at health stores, and can only be regenerated by eating the flesh of the spawning bodies during the event. However, for those wanting to farm XP, the companions should be the target of the player's hunger.

This method is best done with three players, with two as victims and one as the XP farmer. To get the benefits, the XP farming player will need to attack their comrades until they are knocked down, then attempt to revive them. Due to the frenzied state, the XP farmer will attempt to eat their friend instead of healing them. This will grant them a boost of 2,000 XP, and even more if any relevant items are attached. This action can be performed on both victims within the party. Then, the XP farmer can opt to die to repeat the process again.

As an alternative method that will likely yield even more XP, the third player in the party can act as a defender and interrupt the XP farmer while they are attempting to eat the victim. This action is most effectively done using a throwable melee weapon, so the third player should equip the Krell Axe or Huntress Spear, as examples. Interrupting the action will stop the victim from dying; however, the XP farmer will still receive their 2,000 XP bonus. This means that the same action can be performed multiple times for a huge boost in experience.

Remnant 2 is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
