Ahead of the game's official launch on July 25, Remnant 2 entered its early access period this weekend. In a very short time, Remnant 2's early launch has proven to be a massive success, with the game catapulting to the top of the Steam sale charts and also seeing plenty of players on consoles. The official launch is fast approaching for Standard and Deluxe Edition owners, meaning the question of which starting class to choose might be looming over players' heads. For those that are hoping to focus on co-op play and fulfill a critical support role, the Medic might be the best starting archetype in Remnant 2.

As the name would suggest, the Medic is Remnant 2's healing-focused support class. Not as durable as some of the other classes and featuring a steep learning curve, players choosing the Medic might have a tough go of things in the early hours of the game or when playing solo. But, with some time spent toward in-game progress and leveling up, the Medic can be one of the best and most important classes for those hoping to keep their squad afloat during Remnant 2's toughest moments.

Remnant 2: Medic Perks and Skills

Not only does the Medic have one of the best starting class skills of Remnant 2's archetypes, but it also has the benefit of starting with what is perhaps the best starting long gun in the XMG57 Bonesaw. This machine gun has a great rate of fire along with a massive ammo reserve, meaning players can deploy the Medic's Wellspring skill to regenerate health in an AoE while laying down suppressing fire on foes. Playing as a Medic equates to being the main means of support for a squad, but that doesn't mean that the class isn't fun to play in its own right.

In addition to having the most sizable health pool of any starting class, the Medic's perks and skills are all built around benefiting the player the more they support and heal their squad. Most of the Medic's class skills have long cooldowns, meaning careful micromanagement is crucial to success. Still, the Wellspring skill that the Medic starts with is one of the best skills in the game and could be a life-saver for players' squads when facing up against some of Remnant 2's numerous powerful enemies.

Remnant 2 Medic Perks

  • Invigorated: Damage Perk: Grants a 2.5% increase to All Damage.
  • Benevolence: Team Perk: Increases Relic Efficacy by 15% and heals nearby allies for 30% of the total healing value.
  • Backbone: Utility Perk: Increases the hits the Medic can take before losing Grey Health by 1.
  • Benefactor: Relic Perk: Increases Relic Use Speed by 20%.
  • Regenerator: Prime Perk: After restoring 350 Total Health to allies, regain a spent Relic charge.

Remnant 2 Medic Skills

  • Wellspring: The Medic channels healing energy into their fist, punching a hole in the ground and creating a 3-meter Healing Spring AOE. Restores 10.5 Health per second and increases Blight Decay Rate. Lasts 15 seconds.
  • Healing Shield: The Medic expels healing energy to shield all allies within 25 meters for 100% of their max health. Lasts 10 seconds. While shielded, allies regenerate 21% of their Max Health.
  • Redemption: The Medic unleashes a 30-meter shockwave that revives downed allies and restores 52.5% Max Health over 10 seconds. For each additional 1s holding the Skill button, healing gains an additional 52.5% (up to 210%). Revived allies only receive 50% of the healing amount and cannot be revived again for another 180 seconds.

Between the class' great starting weapon and excellent AoE healing ability in the Wellspring skill, the Medic is one of the best classes for players just starting in the unforgiving and desolate world of Remnant 2. Anyone looking to be the linchpin of their squad's survivability in some of the game's toughest challenges should strongly consider the class as their starting archetype.

Remnant 2 releases on July 25 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
