The sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes has completely evolved the in-game classes. As they start their journey in Remnant 2, players can choose from four (or five if they have pre-ordered the game) starting Archetypes. Archetypes are the backbone of a player’s Build since each comes with a unique Prime Perk, different Traits, and Skills.
Besides their primary Archetype in Remnant 2, players can unlock another one later in the game. This enables them to dual-class and create custom Builds featuring perks from both the primary and secondary archetypes. This guide comprises everything players need to know to unlock and use secondary archetypes in Remnant 2.
How to Unlock Dual Archetypes in Remnant 2
Getting a second Archetype in Remnant 2 can be a little tricky. Before they can unlock the dual class ability, players need to achieve 10 Trait Points in the game. Doing so adds another slot to the character menu – for the Secondary Archetype.
Next, players need to find special items known as Engrams, which can be used to unlock more Archetypes. Initially, players can only equip one Engram at a time, but after unlocking dual class, they can equip two Engrams simultaneously.
Players need to visit Wallace, a merchant in Ward 13, to craft their Engrams. Wallace requires 10 Lumenite Crystals, 1,000 Scrap, and the special crafting material for each Engram. These items can be purchased from various merchants, found as monster drops, or hidden in different locations.
Once they have the new Engram, players can equip it in its designated slot to enjoy the perks of both primary and secondary archetypes. Additionally, they can change their archetype at any point of the game – for free.
A new archetype always starts at level 1, which means players will have to start leveling it up from scratch.
Having Dual Archetypes means that any XP the player gains will be divided between the two. Additionally, only the Prime Perk of the primary archetype will remain active. Listed below are the 11 available Archetypes and their required Engrams in Remnant 2.
