Remnant 2's Atom Smasher is a spectacular hammer that utilizes powerful rocket technology to crush foes. It's one of Remnant 2's melee weapons that's a fantastic option for players looking to improve their close-range combat. Although it doesn't smash individual atoms, its advanced capabilities pulverize the bonds between them, potentially bringing a whole new meaning to the concept of being squishy.

While Remnant 2's Engineer Archetype comes ready-equipped with the Atom Smasher, there is a way other archetypes can still enjoy and get hold of the Atom Smasher with a bit of exploration. Depending on what world players first spawn in, the Atom Smasher might be the first melee weapon option they uncover. However, it's worth the trip and challenge, especially when players can move between worlds more readily.

Atom Smasher Location in Remnant 2

Players can find Remnant 2's Atom Smasher melee weapon inside the final train cart at the end of the Terminus Station dungeon in N'Erud. Players must first reach Terminus Station and complete the sinister train conductor's 7-minute complete-or-die combat train challenge as one of Remnant 2's hidden events. When the train stops after completing the event, players can find the Atom Smasher as a reward as follows:

  • Exit the train door and locate the nearby checkpoint crystal.
  • Crouch under the pipes opposite the checkpoint crystal to find a chest, then climb the nearby ladder.

  • Follow the pathway around to see the train parked up from above through the window. Jump on top of the train through the open window and drop into the open hatch to find the Atom Smasher inside, as located on the map below. Nearby, players can also find the Decorum Cipher for Remnant 2's plasma cutter.

  • Exit the train out the newly opened train door to find another chest and a recording log by a corpse in the nearby room.

Before using the crystal to exit the dungeon, players should ensure they have collected the Atom Smasher and finished exploring, as there doesn't seem to be a way to portal back to the area. It's possible to enter Terminus Station on returning to N'Erud, but the door leading to the train station entrance area appears locked, with the train previously departed from the platform.

Some players might also wonder how to find Terminus Station on N'Erud's vast map. Although Remnant 2's regional map areas are random, it's possible that some players might find the entrance to Terminus Station to the right of Ascension Spire, where players meet a non-hostile NPC called the Custodian.

A cave entrance area on the right may lead players through the Abyssal Rift and into Terminus Station. However, this is likely not the case for all players owing to map randomization, so it may take some exploring map re-rolling to find Terminus Station. Traveling and descending through Terminus Station may eventually lead to the train entrance after a lengthy elevator descent.
