Like many RPGs, Remnant 2 has a wide variety of effects that improve the player's abilities in combat, whether that's in the form of new attacks or other non-offensive maneuvers. The Haste status effect falls somewhere in between these two — it's great in a pinch when it comes to a scuffle, and it's also a much-needed quality-of-life bonus for general exploration and travel.

Despite having numerous buffs available for players, Remnant 2 doesn't do a very good job of putting the effects of these bonuses under the spotlight. It's easy to take things like Haste for granted but with the proper knowledge, players will be able to fight according to what their characters are truly capable of.

How Does Haste Work in Remnant 2?

Haste affects the speed of everything a player does. This includes jumping, evading, running, sprinting, reloading, walking while aiming, casting, melee weapon swinging, and even rate of fire. All actions will be sped up by 7% when Haste is active — this may not seem like much, but in a game where frame-perfect dodging is rewarded, such a small number can actually be very palpable.

There are a number of ways to earn the Haste buff. The most obvious one is by wearing specific accessories. The Anastajia's Inspiration ring, for example, grants Haste whenever the wearer receives any form of healing. Players can use this ring in tandem with the Regrowth Trait from the Summoner Archetype to gain permanent uptime on Haste without having to waste any healing items.

Out of all the Archetypes in the game so far, the Explorer is the only one that can grant Haste to allies. By using the Gold Digger skill, Explorers have a chance of digging up a fountain that grants the speed buff to anyone who passes through it. This lasts for 15 seconds after moving away from the fountain, though it can be refreshed by dipping back into the mist before it expires.

Haste is especially helpful for characters wearing heavy armor. The speed boost it provides reduces the recovery speed of fat rolls and belly flops, making it invaluable for Archetypes like the Engineer and Challenger. Players can also take advantage of Haste with the Gunslinger, as the buff stacks with the Archetype's inherently improved weapon handling speed and fire rate.

Having Haste up all the time isn't a necessity, but it will definitely help during those crucial moments against swarms of enemies or big bosses. Players who want to improve the speed of specific actions will want to use specialized items instead, such as the Gunslinger's Charm or Bright Steel Ring.

Remnant 2 is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
