Remnant 2 is an unpredictable game that can give you unique experiences, as each area is rarely the exact same for everyone. With the Forgotten Kingdom DLC, one particular area you'll have access to right away is the Infected Abyss.

Once the Forgotten Kingdom DLC is started, the Infected Abyss is one of the first areas you can travel to. This area will have various bosses to defeat and is filled to the brim with danger. Not only will you encounter many dangers in this area, but there are valuable items for you to uncover.

Remnant 2: Infected Abyss Location

The Remnant 2 character found the entrance to the Infected Abyss dungeon.

To access the Infected Abyss, you will first start in the Ancient Canopy area. You will notice there's a waterfall nearby that you can access near the vendor. Beyond the falling water will be a hidden area that leads to the golden door to the Infected Abyss.

Remnant 2: Infected Abyss Items

Ring of the Forest Spirit

When you first start in the Infected Abyss, there will be a small platform you're on before climbing down the steps towards various enemies. On this platform, you may find the Ring of the Forest Spirit mixed in a skeleton. While this might not be one of the best rings in Remnant 2, it is sought after. This item appears randomly in Remnant 2, so it might not be guaranteed. With this ring, relic healing effectiveness is increased by 15%.

Crystal Staff

The Remnant 2 character found the Crystal Staff in the Infected Abyss dungeon.

The Crystal Staff can be found leaning up against some rotting roots before you reach the end of the map and face the Root Statue. There will be various aspects to this staff that make it desirable and, with the right buffs, pretty powerful.

  • 5% Critical Hit Chance
  • +95% Weak Spot Damage
  • 3% Stagger Modifier

Profane Soul Stone

You can obtain the Profane Soul Stone by submitting to the Root Statue. It can be used to increase the summon damage by 30%, the summon movement speed by 15, and it will reduce the total damage reduction by 10% per each active summon.

Near-Sighted Mutator

The Near-Sighted Mutator will be dropped from the Root Statue once you defeat it. This will increase the ranged damage to your long gun weapon by 10% to enemies within 7m. You'll also receive various other items from defeating the Root Statue, including, but not limited to, the following.

  • x2 Corrupted Lumenite Crystals
  • Cracked Casting Speed
  • x4 Cracked Stagger Damage

Remnant 2: Infected Abyss Bosses

The Remnant 2 character is shooting the Root Nexus from a distance.

As for bosses in this area, you will have to defeat 3 Root Nexus bosses in order to progress through this dungeon. Each one will get progressively more difficult, leaving you more vulnerable to the elements in the environment. Be sure to equip one of Remnant 2's best armor sets to prepare for the fights.

First Root Nexus

When you enter the Infected Abyss, you will follow the pathways, opening chests along the way, gaining scrap and iron. You will notice there are some areas where the ground is too hot, negatively impacting your health. Luckily, there are various ledges around that you can climb up to and get out of the heat to give your health a rest.

First, you will follow the giant root down to the bottom level, jump down and quickly veer to your right, head up some stairs and another root. Facing the top of it, jump down to your left, then veer to your left again. Straight ahead you’ll see a staircase. If you climb up that ledge, then turn around to face where you just came from, you will see the first Root Nexus is straight ahead. There will also be another staircase to the right of you that can be utilized for extra coverage.

Shoot from afar with your best weapon. Depending on the damage of your weapon, you can take it down fairly quickly. The Crossbow tends to reduce health quickly with a damage of 132 without being modified too much, but using weapon modifiers will be very useful. There will be enemies that spawn to protect it, especially the lower the health gets.

If you have the Handler archetype, your animal will help defend you, so you can focus mainly on the boss. Stay aware of your surroundings as it will try to shoot things at you from the sky, and randomly spawn enemies close to you. Once defeated, the bottom floor will be safe to walk through without affecting your health.

Second Root Nexus

A Remnant 2 player battling a Root Nexus boss in the Infected Abyss

Head through the revealed archway the first Root Nexus was covering, then go to your right. Take the path to the left and follow the root down to another scorching area. If you veer to your right, there will be a chest you can quickly grab.

Going to your left, head down the path to your right at the end of the root, and you will see another large root jutting out that you can take refuge on for a short while, saving your health. Straight ahead from this ledge will be the second Root Nexus. To the right of it will be a safe ledge you can rest on in between attacks.

However, you might not be able to get any good shots in from this ledge, so you will have to go into the heat to attack. When you dip down into the heat, try to get as many shots in as you can before retreating back to the ledge. Repeat this process until you defeat it. Remember, as with the first one, enemies will come out of the woodwork to protect it. There will be vicious enemies that travel through the ground and pop up near you.

Third Root Nexus

After the second Root Nexus is defeated, head through the next area and keep going until you reach more heat radiating from the ground. You will notice a door you can open to your left. This leads to the beginning area you started in near the first Root Nexus. This will come in handy if you happen to die, so you have a shortcut to the next boss.

If you keep going straight, you will come to a very large enemy. To the right of you, there will be a little cove that will shield you from the heat, so you can defeat it from a distance. If you jump down from that ledge, there will be a chest with random materials to your right. Continue past this cove and you will find the final Root Nexus.

This one will be much more difficult than the first two, with many flying enemies that take a lot of effort to take down. It's best to take down the large enemy that immediately spawns while continuously dodging.

You'll have to stand in front of the boss and shoot it directly as the only refuge will be behind it. Be sure to have some of the best weapon mods in Remnant 2 equipped as this might be one of the most difficult enemies of this area. Take your time as new enemies will spawn at various increments as the enemy's health bar is decreasing. After you defeat the final Root Nexus, head through to the final boss of the area.

The Emissary: Root Statue Boss

The Remnant 2 character found the Root Statue and must decide what to do next.

The final boss of this area will be the Root Statue. You must decide if you should submit to the root or fight it. Assuming you choose to fight him, you will want to continuously dodge as he will send out roots from the ground to grab you. Pay attention to the few enemies spawning around you as they'll attack when you least expect it. Unfortunately, he stops frequently and will be immune to your attacks. When you see him moving, take advantage of it and get as many hits as possible to take him down quickly.
