Highlights

  • Bloodline is a powerful weapon mod tied to the Merciless gun, dealing damage with bonuses and increasing damage for every enemy it passes through.
  • Soul Brand is a great support weapon mod for the Rune Pistol, applying a brand to enemies that heals allies and grants bonus health on kill.
  • Dreadwalker is the most overpowered weapon mod in the game, locked to the Nightfall Long Gun, providing infinite ammo, lifesteal, and increased fire rate.

Among all the different weapons Remnant 2 has to offer, there are a fair few of them with Weapon Mods already engrained into them. Usually, players will use Materials they get from defeating bosses to have McCabe craft Weapon Mods that they can then 'slot' into Weapons.

However, some Weapon Mods are locked to certain weapons, usually weapons made from World Bosses, and these Mods can't be switched out or modified. So, let's go over the best Weapon Mods in Remnant 2 that are tied to specific weapons.

8 Bloodline

Bloodline

Merciless

Long Gun

Fires a blast that pierces all enemies in its path, dealing damage with a 25 percent Critical Damage bonus and 2x Stagger bonus. Bloodline damage increases by 50 percent for every enemy it passes through.

First up is a Weapon Mod that's tied to a weapon with a lot of story ties to the last Remnant game, Remnant: From the Ashes. It goes by the name Bloodline, and it's locked to the Merciless. This gun is made by taking the Corrupted Ravager's Crimson Membrane to McCabe, and is a fantastic weapon, especially for those who are into the idea of a build based around Bleed damage.

And, like the weapon it's tied to, Bloodline is a great Weapon Mod for both boss fights and encounters with a lot of mobs. It charges quickly, has multiple charges, and the damage output is great too.

7 Soul Brand

Weapon Mod Description

Soul Brand

Rune Pistol

Hand Gun

Applies a Soul Brand to all enemies within 25 meters that lasts for 25 seconds. Enemies killed with Soul Brand active on them leave behind an Echo that lasts 10 seconds and seeks out any survivor within 3 meters of itself, granting them 10 percent of their Max HP on contact.

Second, here's a Weapon Mod that's much more tailored for players who like to take on the Support/Medic role in games like Remnant 2. This Weapon Mod is called Soul Brand, and it's part of the Rune Pistol which gained through this whole involved process including a web and some nightmares. But, once players stick the right Medallion in the Nightweaver's Web, they'll get the Decrepit Rune and can then take that to Nimue to make the Rune Pistol.

Essentially, this Mod boils down to is that a player who builds for support using the Amplitude Trait can just walk into a room full of enemies, pop this Mod, and let their allies kill everything while the Echoes it creates also automatically heal any nearby allies with every kill.

6 Dreadwalker

Dreadwalker

Nightfall

Long Gun

On activation player enters the Nightmare Realm. In the Nightmare Realm, Nightfall gains infinite ammo, a Fire Rate bonus, temporary Lifesteal, and becomes fully automatic. The wielder in Nightmare Realm also becomes harder to hit while moving. Lasts 10 seconds.

To be honest, it's not even a competition, as this next Weapon Mod is the most overpowered one in the game, and that's even after it was nerfed by the developers. Dreadwalker is the Weapon Mod locked to the Nightfall Long Gun players get from the Nightweaver, and it's just overpowered.

The Nightfall itself is already a fantastic choice for a Long Gun, but when Dreadwalker is activated, the Nightfall becomes a weapon of mass destruction. Sure, the effect of the Weapon Mod only lasts 10 seconds, but with the proper build tailored around Mod Power Generation, players can have this overpowered buff active almost all the time.

5 Eulogy

Weapon Mod Description

Eulogy

Sorrow

Hand Gun

Recalls bolts on activation that deal damage when pulled from a target or striking a target as they return to Sorrow. Recalled bolts grant 2 percent of the player's Max HP. Recalled bolts can also overfill Sorro by up to +5, any additional bolts will be added to the reserves.

The Sorrow Crossbow is one of those weapons in Remnant 2 that not many players just 'stumble' upon. It involves killing a very specific boss first, getting a ring, then going back and talking to Meidre, whom most players would've already exhausted the dialogue of by this point.

But, for the ones who either looked it up or stumbled upon this, they'll be given the Sorrow by Meidre, and this beautiful hand crossbow is very strong. Its Weapon Mod, Eulogy, isn't the 'flashiest' of Weapon Mods, but it's one of the best in the game in terms of helping the player survive. While the description might make it seem like the recalled bolts don't give the player a lot of health back, they absolutely do, and that's not even talking about the aspect of this Mod where players can return used bolts to the reserves as well.

4 Moonlight Barrage

Weapon Mod Description

Moonlight Barrage

Crescent Moon

Long Gun

On activation, Crescent Moon is empowered for the next 15 seconds. Arrows apply Moonlight to enemies on-hit, enemies struck by arrows while under the effects of Moonlight release a Moon Essence which returns 1 arrow to the player, heals a portion of their Max Health, and grants a Fire Rate and Reload Speed Bonus as well. Basic Shots automatically become Charged Shots and a fully Charged Shot fires two arrows instead.

There are a few different types of bows in Remnant 2. There's the Sorrow of course, the Royal Hunting Bow, the Crossbow, the Sagittarius, the Arbalist (kind of), and of course the Crescent Moon.

The Crescent Moon, in particular, is finding itself as the crux of a lot of player's builds online, and a lot of this has to do with its Weapon Mod, Moonlight Barrage. Even more than how the Dreadwalker buffs the Nightfall Long Gun, Moonlight Barrage almost makes the Crescent Moon into an entirely different weapon. Players no longer need to charge shots, they'll heal when killing enemies, they'll get ammo back, and they'll set their foes ablaze.

3 Nano Swarm

Weapon Mod Description

Nano Swarm

Nebula

Hand Gun

On activation, unleashes a swarm of Nanomachines that seek out enemies within 20 meters of the player and repeatedly attack this enemy, dealing Acid damage with each hit. Lasts 15 seconds.

Moving on to a bit of an odd example, as the next entry is a fantastic Weapon Mod that's unfortunately locked to a gun that's not quite as good. The Nebula, in its description at least, looks like an incredibly fun gun to use. And, in the right circumstances, it absolutely is fun to use. But, the range of the Corrosive Gas it fires is so incredibly short (even shorter than the Hellfire Flamethrower) and it doesn't seem like any range-modifying gear really helps with that.

However, the Nano Swarm Mod that's locked to the Nebula is fantastic and is one of the best examples of a 'set it and forget it' type of Weapon Mod. When activated, this Mod lets loose a swarm of Nanomachine that automatically hunt down and attack enemies within a certain range of a player. And, with the right equipment that buffs Mod damage and extends it, players can make this swarm even deadlier and basically always keep them active.

2 Horizon Strike

Horizon Strike

World's Edge

Melee Weapon

Charged Attacks release a wide horizontal projectile that pierces through enemies in its path, dealing damage.

For the last two entries, let's take a look at the Melee Weapons. Melee Weapons in Remnant 2 are all pretty varied, which is great. There are some that have unique attacks, some that can be thrown and auto-retrieved, and some that inflict status effects. The World's Edge, however, is a gigantic glowing red greatsword that is basically above all other Melee Weapons. Rightfully so, of course, as Brabus only offers this sword once players beat the game on Apocalypse difficulty.

And, the innate Weapon Mod of the World's Edge, Horizon Strike, is one of the major factors that makes this sword so great. There are only a few very specific builds that players can use to play Remnant 2 entirely with melee, and ones including World's Edge and Horizon Strike are among the strongest options.

1 Energy Wave

Energy Wave

Hero's Sword

Melee Weapon

Charge Attacks use a portion of the player's Stamina to release an energy wave projectile from the sword, allowing the wielder to strike enemies from much further away.

For the last Weapon Mod, let's look at another one tied to a weapon that's only available after beating the campaign on Nightmare difficulty (or unlocking Explorer and starting a new character as an Explorer, but it'll be tied to that character).

The Hero's Sword is the Weapon in question here, and its innate Weapon Mod is called Energy Wave. It's very obviously a Legend of Zelda reference, as this sword fires waves of energy out of it and looks like a store-brand basic Master Sword. In any case, Energy Wave is a bit hard to aim at first, but once players use it enough times and get used to it, this Wave can do a lot more than one might expect. Sure, the Hero's Sword basically feels like a downgraded World's Edge, but even a downgraded World's Edge is amazingly useful.

Remnant 2 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
