The Explorer is a utility-focused Archetype that's all about—as its name suggests—exploring maps and scrounging up as much treasure as possible. It has some value to offer in a fight but for the vast majority of Remnant 2's combat scenarios, every other Archetype will outshine it in terms of damage output.
This doesn't make the Explorer any less valuable, however. There's a lot to discover in Remnant 2, and having someone who can sniff secrets outs is more than welcome in any raiding party. With the right build, even the Explorer can take on the nastiest of monsters in the game's hardest difficulty with relative ease.
Remnant 2 Explorer Build
This is a generalist build that focuses on improving the Explorer's combat potential while also boosting its innate utility abilities by adding even more helpful effects. Given the Archetype's weakness in the offense department, this setup is best used in multiplayer with one or more co-op partners.

The build uses the Corrosive Shot mod and the Twisting Wounds Mutator together to inflict both the Corroded and Bleeding status effects onto targets. The former increases the damage afflicted targets take while the latter deals more damage over time while also enabling any effect that triggers off Bleed like Vampire Blade and Ravager's Mark. With both status effects active, all players in the team will deal more damage as a whole.
As for the accessories setup, Stone of Malevolence can effectively get rid of any downtime for Corrosive Shot, essentially giving players infinite acid infusions for their bullets. Meanwhile, Shard Banded Ring and Chains of Amplification will improve the Explorer's personal DPS while Encrypted Ring and Heart of the Wolf provide survivability and mobility bonuses.
Players should regularly switch between the Fortune Hunter and Gold Digger skills—use the former while exploring and the latter during boss fights. Swap skills before entering a boss gate, and make sure to rest at a checkpoint after doing so. Keep in mind that the buff provided by Gold Digger lingers for a short duration, which means players don't need to always stand on top of a fountain to enjoy its effects.
Hunter is the preferred secondary Archetype here simply due to its damage buffs. At max rank, it will passively grant 40% extra ranged damage, 15% bonus Weakspot damage, and 5% more critical hit chance. Hunter's Mark is also invaluable, especially in tense scenarios where the party is surrounded.
