Highlights

  • Gamers should stay tuned for exciting announcements from Remedy Entertainment at Summer Game Fest, with the DLC for Alan Wake 2 being the most likely reveal.
  • Fans may finally get more information on the highly anticipated Alan Wake 2 story expansions, Night Springs and Lake House, at the event, as Sam Lake posted a looking eyes emoji in response to Geoff Keighley teasing the event.
  • The studio is also working on ambitious projects like a Max Payne 1+2 remake and an unannounced multiplayer game codenamed Condor, so there is plenty that Remedy could talk about at the June 7 event.

Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake has seemingly hinted at a notable announcement at the upcoming Summer Game Fest. The Finnish game studio shipped the critically-acclaimed Alan Wake 2 last year, and has several other projects in the works. Remedy fans have been waiting to hear more about them, and their patience may be rewarded soon.

The studio has a host of ambitious projects in development, namely DLCs for Alan Wake 2, Control 2, the Max Payne 1+2remake, and an unannounced multiplayer game codenamed Condor. Remedy was also working on another multiplayer project, but recently canceled it to divert resources and streamline the aforementioned projects' development pipelines. Ever since the studio released Alan Wake 2 in October 2023, Remedy has been relatively quiet, but it could finally be ready to talk more.

Remedy Has Good News for Alan Wake and Control Fans

With the impressive success of both Control and Alan Wake 2, recent comments from Remedy's CEO confirm big plans for the franchises.

Remedy creative director Sam Lake recently retweeted a post from Geoff Keighley, the organizer of Summer Game Fest, that reminded people that the event is just three weeks away. While Keighley's tweet may seem standard-affair in isolation, Lake's addition of a pair of eyeball emojis to the retweet has led to a flurry of speculation among fans, who believe that the cryptic tease suggests that Remedy may have significant reveals planned for the event. Earlier in the year, it was rumored that news surrounding Alan Wake 2's DLC may break soon, and Summer Game Fest on June 7 could be where that happens.

Some Believe a Max Payne 1+2 Remake Announcement is Coming

However, fans are abuzz with possibilities, theorizing that the highly anticipated Max Payne 1+2remake could also see an official reveal at the event. However, recent updates from Remedy on its future projects confirmed that the remake will enter full production in Q2 2024, which began just a month ago. Therefore, it's unlikely that the studio will have any substantial footage of the remake to show. A CGI trailer is also doubtful, as the project has been public knowledge for nearly two years and doesn't need to be announced again. Therefore, Alan Wake 2 DLC is most likely what Lake is referring to.

Last year, Alan Wake 2 was confirmed to receive two paid story expansions: Night Springs and Lake House. At the time, details and release dates for these expansions weren't disclosed, but with Summer Game Fest marking nearly eight months since the release of Alan Wake 2, it could be the perfect platform for Remedy to formally unveil these DLCs. Additionally, some speculate that the studio could announce physical copies of Alan Wake 2 at the event, which bundle the expansions together with the base game as a "Game of The Year" edition. Alan Wake 2 was released in a digital-only format, which was a disappointment to those who prefer physical media. The potential reveal of the DLCs and disc prints for the game could be an excellent way to spark a resurgence in sales.
