Due to some confusion, some Bethesda fans have been worried about the lack of a physical disc for Redfall, but the developer has good news regarding the issue. Redfall is among the Bethesda titles that will be console exclusive for Xbox since the acquisition happened, and it will be added to Game Pass on day one which may still result in more digital players overall.

Bethesda has announced that Redfall will get a retail release like previous games from the publisher and the box will include a Blu-ray disc despite rumors to the contrary fueled by the FPS' former support page. Because of the confusion of the physical Redfall release went viral on various social channels over the weekend, Bethesda was quick to clear up the confusion ahead of its release. Though some fans had already anticipated that the previous information was inaccurate, Bethesda's announcement about Redfall's retail release may prevent a controversial May launch

When it was confirmed that Redfall would require an online connection to play even in single-player mode, some fans had concerns about the physical copy of the game. The Bethesda support page for Redfall has been updated to reflect the fact that the retail release of the game will come with a Blu-ray disc, dispelling rumors that have been spreading about the game for a few days. According to the adjustment, fans that buy the physical copy may have to ask retailers for the Redfall Bite Back Upgrade in-game items that come with pre-order editions of the game.

Because some retailers may not get the codes for these Bite Back Upgrades, Bethesda support also suggested that players that can't acquire the code for release may get the upgrade online separately for the game at an additional cost. While Redfall on Xbox will have a disc with its physical release, the same can't be said for the PC version which will receive a retail box for launch, but it does not come with a disc and is mostly for aesthetic and availability purposes. These copies of the class-based FPS can still be pre-ordered, but players may have a hard time securing a Redfall Deluxe or collector's edition with how close to release it is.

Though Redfall hasn't been released yet to validate the Bethesda support page changes, players that were worried about the lack of a disc may consider pre-ordering the game now that the confusion has been cleared up. Fans that still intend to buy Redfall digitally will be able to pre-install the game ahead of launch, while physical purchasers will be left waiting a little longer in favor of getting the Blu-ray disc.

Redfall will release for PC and Xbox Series X/S on May 2.
