The PC requirements for Redfall have been released, and gamers who want to push the title to its maximum graphical capacity will need to have computers with at least 32 GB of RAM. This Redfall requirement seems to be part of an unfortunate trend in 2023, in which some new games are asking for ridiculous specs as a way to allow gamers to achieve the best quality settings.

Known for several successful games such as the Dishonored series or Prey, Arkane Studios is set to launch Redfall soon. The new open-world action game will allow players to kill vampires in Massachusetts both in single-player or via co-op with up to four friends. While the title is being eagerly awaited by most fans, Redfall’s development has not been without controversies. The cancelation of Redfall for PS5 annoyed many gamers, especially as Microsoft is currently trying to convince regulators to let it purchase Activision Blizzard, and owners of Sony consoles are afraid to be losing access to even more games.

Redfall is coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, and players who want to try it out on PC can already know the necessary specs. The minimum requirements include an Nvidia GTX 1070, coupled with an Intel Core i-8400 and at least 16 GB of RAM. It’s high, but around what’s expected for a new AAA game these days. The recommended specs are a bit higher, asking for an RTX 2080, Intel Core i7-9700K, and still 16 GB of RAM. However, Arkane didn’t exactly define what Minimum and Recommended mean in these cases, so it’s hard to tell how well the game will be running before the launch.

Redfall-Characters

What really stands out is the Ultra setting for Redfall, which presumably includes playing at 4K with 60 FPS. Gamers who want to try it can still use an i7-9700K processor but may need an RTX 3080 and a ridiculous amount of 32 GB of RAM. Unfortunately, there seems to be a trend of games asking for really high RAM requirements recently. For instance, Diablo 4 will also require 32 GB of RAM for people who want to play it on its best-quality settings.

In any case, PC players who may be disappointed with the 32 GB requirement for the Ultra specs should remember that Xbox gamers will probably face an even harder time with the title. According to Arkane Studios, Redfall will only have quality mode for consoles at launch, meaning that it’ll run on 30 FPS on Xbox Series X/S consoles, which is a far cry from what players expect from a title coming from such a big company.
