Developer Arkane Austin has shared a launch trailer for Redfall ahead of the cooperative multiplayer's quickly approaching release date. Xbox's next major first-party game release is less than a week away from arriving and anticipation is reaching its peak. This Redfall launch trailer offers a fast-paced introduction to the game's setting, its four protagonists, the vampire threat, and just a hint of the mysteries and excitement players will discover when they play.

Several exciting trailers have been released by the Redfall team up to this point, slowly introducing more and more of the game to interested players. Trailers have introduced Redfall's cast of four protagonists, each with their own unique personality and abilities. There are trailers that have delved into Redfall's horror elements, touching on its vampire antagonists and strange nightmare devouring the city of Redfall. Even more trailers have teased Redfall's open world, which players will only fully discover when playing.

The launch trailer for Redfall is meant to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. It offers exciting glimpses of Redfall's island town setting, from Woodson's Lobster Pound to the Heritage Rock Lighthouse. Combat is delved into, including looted weapons and each character's unique abilities. There are even some hints at the game's story, or at least the escalating threat of increasingly powerful vampires and their world-ending machinations.

The abilities of each of Redfall's protagonists are given a particular focus in the launch trailer. The telekinetic Layla Ellison is shown using her Lift elevator to launch herself in the air and umbrella shield to deflect attacks. Remi De La Rosa distracts foes with his Siren robot companion and then blows them up with a C4 charge. Paranormal investigator Devinder Crousley uses an Arc Javelin to shock foes, and ex-military sharpshooter Jacob Boyer throws out his psychic raven to combo off of the Arc Javelin and burst some vampires into flames.

While there's a focus on four-player combat, Redfall's bread and butter, it's also worth noting the trailer goes out of its way to mention it can be played alone, too. Redfall will still launch as an online-only game, unfortunately, but Arkane says it's exploring ways to remove the option. There's a chance that, sometime after launch, players will be able to play Redfall as an offline single-player experience.

At its heart, the Redfall launch trailer is all about building up excitement for the upcoming release. It even features a cover of Soundgarden's iconic "Black Hole Sun" track, a fun reference to Redfall's main villain Black Sun. Fans will have to wait to see if Redfall delivers on the hype when it arrives next week.

Redfall releases May 2 on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
