Gamers that level up in Redfall will find that only a few of their skills are available to level up at any one time. As they grow in power, new skill trees become revealed and available, many of which are much stronger than the initial selection.

Thankfully, Redfall doesn't lock players into their old options. Players will get a chance to respec their skills after a while. However, that can feel like a long while and gamers who don't know when that is might be afraid that the bad choices they made early on are permanent.

How To Respec

Redfall Changing Skills In The Menu
  1. Get to level 10.
  2. Get to a safehouse.
  3. Respec in the 'Skills' menu.

The good news is that reinvesting skills is free. Players can get to any safehouse and tinker with their skills until getting them just right. This provides a great deal of freedom that, over the course of a long campaign playthrough, is appreciated. It's nice to be able to change course after getting a new favorite weapon.

The bad news is that it does require players to be level ten first. That's better than making gamers wait until hitting the max level but it's still not something that will happen immediately. Players will be locked into their choices for the first hour or two of gaming. After hitting level ten, a message will pop up saying the option has been unlocked.

Thankfully, Redfall's various chapters can be completed fairly easily without needing a perfectly optimized build. Gamers that do only the main missions might find they are a bit underleveled, but it's nothing that is impossible to handle after a few attempts.

If waiting until level ten is simply too much to ask, consider changing to one of the other difficulty settings for a bit. Making the game easier may feel like cheating, but there is no reason not to crank it up after hitting level ten to get a great experience.

Redfall is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
