Xbox's first event in 2023 brought the gaming community together on Wednesday, January 25 to unveil the latest news on four major games coming soon to Xbox One, Xbox X Series X/S, PC, and Game Pass. This new presentation format wasn't like the Xbox Games Showcase the company does at E3, with dozens of announcements from Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda. Instead, it talked about fewer games, but offered more in-depth information, including the highlight of the show, Redfall.

Arkane Austin, the developer studio, announced that the vampire game will be available on May 2 and showed gameplay that revealed part of the open world, character customization, and different variants of enemies. It also featured several new vampires that players will battle when the game debuts in a few months.

Redfall's New Gameplay

The Developer_Direct Showcase dropped a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming vampire hunting FPS game, Redfall, and it is possible to see what vampires players will have to hunt. Out of all the types that have been revealed, the most basic ones will be a variant that don't have an official name, simply called vampires. These are the lowest form of the undead, fresh out of the transformation. They are the most common species to appear throughout the game. They are characterized by their high-speed attacks and scratches. A couple of good hits to the head should take them out with little or no effort, but they should not be underestimated.

Next on the list are the shrouds, a unique type of vampire that can submerge an entire area into darkness, which helps disorient their prey. Like other unique vampires, they can throw energy projectiles that deal heavy damage, but they can also move along the ground to avoid being hit with any type of projectile. When the opportunity arises, the player can shoot at their glowing red core, which will cause them great damage.

Anglers are another unique type of vampire that like to wait until the right moment to attack. They will throw a long energy harpoon at unsuspecting players in order to lure users in, inflicting significant damage. It has been said that defeating an angler will be a team effort.

The Latest Vampires Revealed for Redfall

After defeating enough vampires, the vampire gods will get angry and send a super-powered variant called The Rook. Unfortunately, the full extent of their abilities has yet to be revealed, but according to the latest gameplay released, they are extremely fast and use red lightning attacks. It's safe to assume that these monsters won't be easy to take down.

Another type of vampire will be underbosses. It is currently unknown how many underbosses there are, but it is very likely that there will be many of them. Some will have unique abilities such as spinning shields, as can be seen in the trailer. Defeating them will put players one step closer to encountering the ultimate type of vampires, the vampire gods.

According to the gameplay shown, these enemies use their elastic bodies to claw and then hurl large objects such as rocks at players. This will almost certainly not be the full extent of their abilities, and they will definitely have some other tricks up their supernatural sleeves. In order to confront them, players will have to take down several underbosses first, as mentioned above, and gather several of their skulls to open a portal that will bring them before the vampire gods. It is not yet known how many vampire gods there are, but they will surely be enough to keep users entertained.

Redfall launches May 2, 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
