Some physical copies of Redfall could have an interesting disclaimer about the game lacking a 60 fps option on Xbox. The release of Redfall is right around the corner, and the game has been highly promoted by Microsoft as one of the biggest first-party Xbox games releasing this year,Redfall is a co-op shooter developed by Arkane Austin, which previously developed the 2017 shooter Prey. It has been touted by Microsoft as one of the biggest Xbox releases and was strongly highlighted in the Xbox Developer Direct that premiered this January. The excitement surrounding the game was dampened recently due to the announcement that Redfall will not be launching with a 60 FPS performance mode and will only be playable at 30 FPS. This news was disappointing to many Xbox fans, particularly because Redfall is not releasing on previous-gen consoles.RELATED:Xbox Reveals 5 Custom Controllers Based on RedfallWith Redfall's May 2 release date quickly approaching, gamers are starting to get their eyes on physical copies of the games, some of which appear to have a curious disclaimer. A photo shared by Windows Central editor Jez Corden shows a physical copy of Redfall with a disclaimer sticker stating that, despite what is written on the box art, the 60 FPS mode will not be available at launch. This is not the first seemingly conflicting piece of information regarding physical copies of the game, as Bethesda had to clarify that the physical copy of Redfall will come with a disc following rumors that the box would only contain a download code.

As Redfall has not yet launched, it is unclear whether all copies of the game will have this disclaimer. However, its presence does put a spotlight on the controversy surrounding the performance and frame rate of Redfall. This has also prompted fan concerns over how future first-party Xbox titles, such as Forza Motorsport or Starfield, will perform at launch. Starfield has already been delayed multiple times, meaning its performance will likely be under even more scrutiny upon release.

The ongoing controversy surrounding Redfall's performance has not helped Microsoft's image as of late. These image problems are exacerbated by the CMA blocking the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft. The Xbox brand has unfortunately continued to be painted in a negative light as a result of these issues, but this could be turned around if upcoming Xbox titles like Redfall and the highly anticipated Starfield fulfill the expectations for success placed on them.

Redfall releases May 2 on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
