Taking on hordes of infected mutants was never an easy job, especially when the player needs to control all aspects of the battlefield. Coordinating attacks and defense while making sure no man gets left behind, it's going to be a constant test of strategy and stamina. A well-put-together team is a key ingredient that will stop the mutants from overwhelming the humans, maximizing each class's skills to take them down without casualty.

From all-out chain gun brutality to carefully choosing a gadget, Red Solstice 2 has something for everyone. Balancing the skills and modifying each character's gear to suit the player's specific playstyle, complete control is the objective. Knowing every aspect of the team inside out is a major factor in making decisions in the middle of battle otherwise, the weakest link in the chain will be exposed when the strong enemies start to appear.

Assault

The assault class is the one players will be customizing the most, depending on the circumstances. If the situation calls for some heavy support and backup is needed, they got it. Is the player in desperate need of some rapid-fire on the squad? The assault class are the ones to call.

Flexibility is their key strength and what will get players through when the going gets tough. The lack of specialty means that it doesn't have a strong point, making them obsolete when it comes to the more exotic enemies in the end game. There's little to no obstacle this class won't be able to hurdle with a quick gear change, mowing through the first half of enemies with ease.

Medic

Surprisingly, Red Solstice 2 is one of the few games that doesn't severely handicap their medics offense, putting them on par with other classes in the first stages. It's a big win because they won't be standing around through the beginning stages while there's no one to heal, freeing up resources and making the team as efficient as possible.

Depending on the build chosen, Medics range from a constant source of ranged healing and propping the team up to the second line of attack that can throw the occasional health boost. With a wide array of equipment at their fingertips, there aren't many places other classes can go that are out of range for a fully loaded medic.

Medics become increasingly important when the team gets into deeper water and meets specialized mutants that can drag them apart, leaving the unprepared vulnerable.

Heavy

firing a shoulder turret into a mutant crowd

The most straightforward out of all the classes, the heavy build is designed around laying down massive damage that will deal with big groups of lesser enemies. It's one of the central classes because it lets players focus on other enemies in the battle without constantly worrying about the swarm.

Outside of cleanup crew, they also have impressive critical hit stacks that will deal more damage than any other class, a critical point in some of the boss battles. As soon as their reload times get sorted out through upgrades, the heavy class becomes a literal lawnmower with plenty of toys like the battle drone to help them out.

Recon

Dropping bombs from the sky

The most frustrating class in the game, the Recon characters offers some high risk for the most reward. Most players don't use Recon to its full potential because they focus on lighter weapons to give the group a much farther field of view. While most of their job isn't glamorous, they do have high damage abilities to call on when needed.

Deploying weaponized drones and acting as the eyes of the battle isn't their only trick players will also have the fastest feet in the game. The recon class's speed makes up the difference for their lack of high damage attacks and ends up being the best way to reposition at critical moments. Overall, it's the class that will irritate players the most at first, slowly leading them to discover the game-changing differences that come when the soldiers work effectively.

Demolition

detonating a giant mutant from afar

The class that players will see the least, only making their appearance known at the most stressful times in the game. Demolition soldiers won't be effective when the lesser mutants attack from all angles, preventing any planning or setup. The real action starts once the boss mutants and slower tanks begin to show their faces, unleashing the full power of the Demolition crew.

Being such a specialized niche makes it easy to know when to bring out the big guns, their the hail mary play when maximum damage is necessary. The list of flexible skills the other classes have is also missing, turning them into a powerful one-trick pony.

Marksman

Taking a sniper shot at a boss mutant

Marksman contains all the power of the other classes condensed into just a few bullets, making it the fastest and riskiest way to deal damage. The best plan of action is to pair them up with Recon and give them a way to locate their target, ensuring that those precious bullets don't go to waste.

Extended Range is a great tool when it's known where to point the weapon, delivering the single most devastating blows in the entire game. The lack of ammunition and reload time makes this class vulnerable between shots and requires some backup for the one hit to deliver, limiting it to some of the bigger mutants in the game. The range will also provide some visuals for other classes so no one gets blindsided along the way.
