  • Evidence of a Red Dead Redemption remaster continues to accumulate with a new logo update on the Rockstar Games website.
  • The original Red Dead Redemption was a critical success, and the sequel's popularity suggests a market for a remastered version.
  • The updated logo, featuring "Rockstar Games Presents," may indicate that the studio is directly involved in ensuring the quality of the remaster.

The evidence for the Red Dead Redemption remaster continues to pile up, as an update on the Rockstar Games website has provided a fresh logo for the game. The original Red Dead Redemption released in 2010 to widespread critical acclaim. The 2018 follow-up was played by millions more people, however, and so it stands to reason that there is quite a sizable market for a take on the original game.

The original Red Dead Redemption's story actually takes place after the events of Red Dead Redemption 2. Unfortunately, those interested in seeing what happens next in the story haven't had many options at their disposal. Rockstar never released a PC version of the original Red Dead Redemption game, and it has effectively remained trapped on the PS3 and Xbox 360, discounting the fact that the game is part of the Xbox backward compatibility program.

Evidence continues to pile up that a Red Dead Redemption remaster or remake may be in the pipeline, and now we've received some of the most compelling evidence yet. Rockstar Games has updated its website to reference something called Red Dead Redemption (Rockstar Presents Ver) with the codename RDR1RSP. This update has come complete with a brand-new logo that says "Rockstar Games Presents Red Dead Redemption." The official announcement still hasn't come, but at this point it's just a matter of time.

The choice to put "Rockstar Games Presents" in the Red Dead Redemption logo could be to reassure fans that the remaster, remake, or whatever it is, is a quality product. As some may recall, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was severely criticized at the time of its release. However, that collection was developed by Grove Street Games, not Rockstar directly, and so perhaps the studio has taken a more direct role with this new take on Red Dead Redemption.

There's been plenty of evidence that Red Dead Redemption is making a comeback, though the jury is still out on what form it will take. Leakers and insiders believe that the release date for the game is "imminent," so it honestly could happen any day now. Some fans may prefer if Rockstar kept its focus on developing Grand Theft Auto 6, but others will definitely be happy to relive John Marston's open world western adventure, especially if the new version of the game brings some significant improvements to the table that make it worthwhile to returning fans as well as newcomers.

Red Dead Redemption is available for PS3 and Xbox 360.
