Following the recent reveal of Grand Theft Auto 6, some Rockstar fans wondered whether the company's next game will be Red Dead Redemption 3. While the wild-west franchise doesn't match Grand Theft Auto's massive popularity, it's still one of the more recognizable game series and has a large, loyal following. While Red Dead Redemption 2's conclusion seemed to wrap up the story of the Van der Linde gang, there are still plenty of storytelling opportunities within its universe.

A Red Dead Redemption theorist pieces together evidence to suggest that Dutch van der Linde may have been a cannibal in the first game of the series.

Clark responded to a fan on Twitter, who asked him whether he thinks Arthur Morgan will be a part of Red Dead Redemption 3's story. Although Clark believes Red Dead Redemption 3's eventual release is a certainty, he doesn't think that Arthur will be involved, explaining that Arthur's story has been fully told. Thanks to Clark's acting and Rockstar's writing, Arthur became a hugely popular character among Red Dead Redemption fans, so this news may come as a sobering disappointment to some.

Since Red Dead Redemption 2's conclusion, some fans have speculated that the third game should be a prequel to the second game, exploring the early years of the Van der Linde gang. While this is still possible, Clark seems to think that it's unlikely, since this premise would certainly involve Arthur, who was a member of the Van der Linde gang during its early years. Instead, Rockstar may look to tell a new story within Red Dead's universe.

More than five years after its release, Red Dead Redemption 2 remains a popular and highly respected game. Following a sale on Steam last month, Red Dead Redemption 2 broke its record for concurrent players on the platform.

Interestingly, Clark also gave his thoughts on the future of GTA Online. After Grand Theft Auto 6's release was confirmed for 2025, fans have wondered whether Grand Theft Auto 5's online mode would eventually be shut down to make room for Grand Theft Auto 6's online mode. Clark believes that there's no reason for this to happen. Since Grand Theft Auto 5 takes place in an entirely different city, and is also hugely popular, it would make sense for Rockstar to allow players to return to its online mode. However, only time will tell what Rockstar decides to do.
