The first Red Dead Redemption's story immersed players into the captivating wild west. Now, with less than two months until the highly anticipated release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar, most known for developing Grand Theft Auto V, has revealed certain core plot details to players.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rockstar art directors, Josh Bass and Aaron Garbut, discussed Red Dead Redemption 2 plot details. Looking back on their massive 2010 hit, Bass reflected on how much "Dutch's presence loomed over the original Red Dead Redemption." He went on to state, "...and his influence on events was a big inspiration for the setting and direction of Red Dead Redemption 2...We all wanted to know more about him and the gang."

As a prequel to Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 will provide players with a much-needed backstory to the notorious Van der Linde gang. While fans speculated on if the story would include multiple playable characters like in that of Grand Theft Auto V, the developers quickly shot down these rumors saying, "This is Arthur's story and we are placing players firmly in Arthur's boots."Although Rockstar is happy with the success of Grand Theft Auto V, they have openly said that they believe Red Dead Redemption 2 will surpass their previous accomplishments.

Regardless of whether the story would be better or worse with multiple playable characters, Red Dead Redemption fans will be thrilled to know that Rockstar has released a full rundown of all the Van der Linde gang members.  With each released character art, Rockstar also provided a catchy tag-line quote from the given character.

While we know Arthur Morgan is the playable protagonist, the clear focus of the story is to show the dynamic between the gang's characters and its leader, Dutch Van der Linde. Being the antagonist of the first Red Dead Redemption, Dutch will likely clash with Arthur on just about everything. It is likely players will experience the struggle for control between the two, along with the occasional physical scuffle. With each relationship dynamic between different gang members, players can expect a dramatic immersive story with the tense, physical scenes one could only wish for in a Western-themed action-adventure.

As of now fans can only speculate on how the story will play out as the days grow ever closer to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, but players can also rest assured that Rockstar has delivered before and is likely to deliver again. This is its first major title constructed using current generation software, and they clearly want everyone to know that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be a game changer. Although, some are skeptical, believing Rockstar will never match its own game, Grand Theft Auto V, being as widely known and successful as it is.
