A Red Dead Redemption 2 player has taken gambling in-game to new heights with an automatic controller apparatus. U/lioneyssy took to the Red Dead Redemption subreddit this week to show off this combination screwdriver and Xbox controller, built to help unlock the Gambler 8 challenge.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has numerous side quests and challenges and, when it comes to gambling, players have plenty of options as well. Gambling has 10 in-game ranks that players can earn by taking on a series of challenges. This apparatus was built in order to tackle the 8th Gambler challenge which is unlocked when a player wins 3 hands of Blackjack with 3 or more hits (additional cards).

The short clip shows an electric screwdriver with a rubber band around the trigger that is interacting with an Xbox controller. The screwdriver has an attachment that rotates continuously and hits the A button on the Xbox controller every so often. This allows the game to continuously ask for hits while Arthur Morgan plays Blackjack, therefore cutting down the time it takes to win this challenge. As the most important thing here is taking hits (adding cards to the ones dealt to a player), this system will likely lose more than a few games but should eventually allow the player to complete the challenge in Red Dead Redemption 2.

What stands out here is the ingenuity. This challenge in Red Dead Redemption 2 can take quite a long time but u/lioneyssy mentions that this approach cut that time down to just a couple of hours. Other commenters who didn't follow this unique approach mention that it took them almost quadruple that amount of time. What is important to note is that this automatic hit machine will lose the player games and so it will be important to have money saved up in order to take on this challenge in this way.

Though this is likely far from what the developer's originally had in mind when setting up this challenge, it is a unique approach and definitely one worthy of note. Some of the challenges in Red Dead Redemption 2 require a significant amount of time to complete and that can push away a certain portion of players.

Then again the difficulty of the challenge often makes the reward that much sweeter. Red Dead Redemption 2 players receive 100 dead eye experience and $15 for completing this challenge but it is likely just checking it off the list that is the most rewarding part. Either way, with u/lioneyssy's contraption players at least have an option to cut down the time needed to complete it.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
