A screenshot posted to the internet shows Pearson from Red Dead Redemption 2 floating just above the ground while lounging back at camp. This hilarious glitch is the most recent to come out of Rockstar's 2018 smash hit, but certainly will not be the last uncovered by the devoted fan base of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Rockstar's latest release Red Dead Redemption 2 is regarded by most as a quintessential gaming experience and by some as one of the greatest games ever. While it narrowly lost out to God of War for 2018's Game Awards game of the year, Red Dead Redemption 2 accrued countless other accolades, including the best narrative awarded from that year's Game Awards, and currently sits comfortably on the list of top 10 greatest-selling games of all time. With the late 2022 leak of early Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay, fans of Rockstar have been anxious for an official announcement, but others have their eyes cast further on the horizon, biding their time until the next entry in its seminal Wild West franchise.

Reddit user WintonHolmes posted their latest technical mishap in Red Dead Redemption 2, which shows the jolly curmudgeon Pearson floating above the ground like a cowboy wizard. As the player character Arthur Morgan stands in the foreground, Pearson is casually lighting up a cigarette in a seated position, levitating over some scattered cargo and oblivious to his own defiance of gravity. A game as grounded and immersive as Red Dead Redemption 2 makes a visual bug like this all-the-more amusing. Reddit comments mostly followed the theme of one central joke premise; wondering what might be in the cigarette Pearson was trying to enjoy.

With Rockstar's current pace of new titles, it may be a decade before it chooses to reveal any information surrounding Red Dead Redemption 3. In the meantime, players continue to be wowed by Red Dead Redemption 2's engrossing campaign and massive open world, and in WintonHolme's case, nonplused at its visual glitches. While some fans have misgivings regarding Red Dead Online, citing a lack of attention and support from Rockstar in favor of its more commercially successful Grand Theft Auto Online, there is still a ton of content to tide over gamers until the next chapter in the Western saga arrives.

Still gracing the charts of Steam's most-played games, the legacy of Red Dead Redemption 2 continues almost five years after its release. Posts like WintonHolme's are a reminder of the game's indomitable staying power, as well as an entertaining break of levity from a storyline that, at times, can be heart-breaking and introspective.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
