The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is lavishly detailed and filled with so many tiny easter eggs that, three years after launch, fans are still discovering new ones. Now, one lucky fan has caught a particularly striking scene of Red Dead Redemption 2's wildlife interacting with one another on video.

One of the most majestic avians found on the North American continent is the bald eagle, a bird of prey that has been the national emblem of the United States since 1782. Bald eagles are likely to be a bit easier for players to notice than Red Dead Redemption 2's wearable scarecrow hat, but these gorgeous creatures still have their share of interesting behaviors to observe.

Redditor h1888 managed to catch a striking video of a bald eagle swooping down on a rabbit, chasing the small mammal through the snow and carrying its prey off in its talons. The clip is about 8 seconds long, which covers the eagle's dive, capture, and subsequent return to the skies. While in real life bald eagles are often found by the sea, hunting for fish with their roughened feet, they do also eat small animals like rabbits. It would be entirely possible for viewers to find a scene like this on a National Geographic show, and once Red Dead Redemption 2 gets its DLSS update, the videos will probably have a similar level of photorealism.

The video has been warmly received by fans, many of whom immediately began discussing other encounters with in-game wildlife. One user shared a story of shooting at a hawk and hitting the snake it was carrying instead, while another user reported shooting a hawk and being bitten by the still-living snake it dropped. Some posters referenced the legendary David Attenborough, a broadcast at the BBC who is well known for lending his voice to nature documentaries. Among the commenters, it was generally agreed upon that Red Dead Redemption 2's open world is vast, gorgeous, and full of fascinating animal encounters.

The Red Dead Redemption series features a wide variety of animals, both real and mythical, many of which the player can hunt if they feel up to the challenge. Each Red Dead title has its share of mythical creatures and spectral sights to be found in the corners of the game world. However, the games' lifelike renditions of real animals, like this rabbit and bald eagle, still stick out for their sheer realism. This short dance of predator and prey could easily be taking place somewhere in the real world right now, making the clip an interesting watch.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
