The owner of the dog that played as the animal motion capture actor of Cain in Red Dead Redemption 2 has announced that the canine has recently passed away. Though only a minor character in Red Dead Redemption 2, the game's players, who have a soft spot for animals, likely remember Cain fondly and will probably be saddened by the news.Even though there is high anticipation within the gaming community for any sort of announcements from Rockstar Games, the company has yet to provide concrete updates about its existing IPs. Nothing about a new Red Dead Redemption title has been revealed and most news about Grand Theft Auto 6 are just unconfirmed leaks or rumors. Now, one of the most recent pieces of news that the fan base has to go on is a sad one, and probably not the type of announcement that they were expecting.RELATED: Red Dead Redemption 2 Player Points Out Adorable Jack Marston DetailOn Instagram, Jason Barnes, who was a Senior Animator for Rockstar Games and did animation work on Red Dead Redemption 2, shared that their beloved dog Einstein Barnes had recently passed away. Einstein played an important role in the action-adventure title, serving as one of the credited animal motion capture actors for Cain. Fans will likely recall that the canine character can normally be found around the Van der Linde camp in Clemens Point. The post was a heartfelt dedication to the beloved pet, showing just how wonderful and special Einstein was to his owner and everyone he had encountered.

Barnes shared some of his memories of Einstein with PCGamer, especially those of when he was working on the development of Red Dead Redemption 2. He shared that Einstein had been trained as a service dog which meant that he was patient and okay with sitting around for long periods of time. This was what made him perfect to play the role of motion capture model for Cain's character. Many replies on Instagram showed the community's condolences for Barnes, while Twitter posts lovingly commemorated Einstein as well.

Though it is definitely hard to lose a beloved dog, Barnes can likely take comfort in the fact that Einstein has forever been immortalized as Cain in Red Dead Redemption 2. This may not trump the beautiful memories they shared together, but only a few can say that their pets can touch other people's lives through a video game. Hopefully the unwavering support of the Red Dead Redemption 2 community will also help Barnes get through this incredibly challenging time in his life.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
