Red Dead Redemption 2 is nearly four years old and is still one of the most detailed games that can be played today. The game contains hundreds of hidden secrets, Easter eggs, and animations that the average player will never see during a single playthrough. This is made even more impressive by the fact that the game's main story takes around 80 hours to finish even without dipping into Red Dead Redemption 2’s vast amount of side content.

One of the most impressive aspects of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the detail put into the animals that populate the game's world. As a game set in a wilder America that is slowly being encroached upon by civilization, there is a huge mix of both wild and domesticated animals.

An unbelievable amount of detail and care has gone into making the animals in the game act like their real-world counterparts, especially the animals that the player can interact with. Horses are the most detailed animals in the RDR2, as they are also an integral element of the gameplay. But the player can also interact with the dogs in the game, and as it turns out, the dogs can also adorably interact with each other, as was recently captured and shared by the appropriately named Reddit user v4nd3rl1nd3.

The clip shows the player looking through their binoculars at two dogs in the distance who are realistically play-fighting with each other just like real dogs would. The clip is captioned "Never seen this before, in the middle of nowhere. So cute." This shows just hard it is to find all the little details Red Dead Redemption 2. Looking at v4nd3rl1nd3’s previous posts also reveals that they have reached 100% completion in Read Dead Redemption 2, which just emphasizes how rare it is for one player to see all the specific animations there are in the game.

It's no surprise that this level of detail has gone into designing the dogs in the game, as they are one of the few animals the player can directly interact with. But many animals in Red Dead Redemption 2 have similarly detailed AI quirks indicative of their real-world counterparts. Opossums will play dead if the player approaches them, also the bears in Red Dead Redemption 2 are less likely to attack if the player stands still.

When a modern game includes a dog for whatever reason, it is now almost considered a requirement by players that petting the dog is an option. RDR2 goes beyond this by letting players use Red Dead Redemption 2’s unique and often hilarious greet/antagonize system. For dogs the options are replaced with praise and scold, though scold must surely be one of the least pressed buttons prompts in gaming.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
