The iconic cast of Red Dead Redemption 2 has received a lot of fan-made tributes over the years, but gamers seem more likely to use protagonist Arthur Morgan in fan art and character creation than they are to dress up as him. However, one gamers has beaten the odds with a stunning, remarkably game-accurate cosplay of Red Dead Redemption 2's charismatic outlaw.

The cosplayer in question is Maul Cosplay, a stuntman and cosplay promoter who's portrayed grizzled video game heroes like Joel from The Last of Us and Geralt from The Witcher. He's very skilled and has years of experience, which has paid off by giving him the ability to portray Arthur with an excellent blend of attitude, weariness, and visible ruthlessness. Based on its quality, his Arthur Morgan cosplay deserves to stand beside toriaesth's impressive Sadie Adler cosplay.

Maul Cosplay's take on Arthur sees him clad in a worn blue shirt, battered suspenders, and some scuffed dark brown pants. A black neckerchief is also ready to be pulled over his face for some raiding. He wears a scratched-up cowboy hat and broad, low-slung belt that looks as if it was taken directly out of the game. Add in flyaway hair and an expertly trimmed - or rather, expertly untrimmed - beard, and fans may have trouble telling his cosplay photos apart from in-game screenshots. These pictures of Arthur walking around with his weapons out and ready are as awe-inspiring as a recent fan-made Red Dead Redemption 2 poster.

This one shows Arthur standing in the wilderness with a lake at his back and a forest in the distance. Not only does it show off his full outfit, it also draws attention to his props, including what appears to be a rifle, a small campfire, and the hat, which Maul Cosplay customized himself. Many fans mistook this picture for a screenshot, with one poster even commenting that anyone can claim a screenshot is part of a cosplay shoot. The image's strong atmosphere is reminiscent of Red Dead Redemption 2's fan-made True Detective-inspired intro.

This picture captures Arthur in a moment of thought, leaning against a tree with a stalk of grass in his mouth. The sunlight at his back gives the picture a philosophical and almost magical air that fits the game's themes of loss and redemption well. Gamers have received this picture warmly, as the angle makes it clear this is a real person, not a screenshot. While some fan-made outfits have turned Arthur Morgan into Patrick Star from SpongeBob SquarePants, this simple shot of Arthur gazing into the distance stands out as an even more memorable moment.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
