Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most detailed and intricate open-world video games available right, with more details being discovered all the time. Now, a player on Reddit has discovered a striking similarity between a real-world figure and a Red Dead Redemption 2 character.

Developer Rockstar Games baked an incredible amount of detail into Red Dead Redemption 2. From unique animations for cleaning the player's guns to horses' bodies adjusting to the temperature. The game is also full of characters that draw inspiration from real-world historical figures. And now, another character possibly based on a real-life character has been discovered.

In a post to the game's subreddit, user Liszt_Beans pointed out that the Red Dead Redemption 2 character Algernon Wasp bears a striking resemblance to Igo Stravinsky. Stravinsky is a Russian composer and pianist that is widely crowned as one of the most influential composers of the 20th century. In comparison, Algernon Wasp is a rather minor character in Red Dead Redemption 2 that is a milliner, or someone who makes women's hats, that the player interacts with over the course of the missions "The Gilded Cage" and "Duchesses and Other Animals."

The comparison image is definitely striking in how similar the two men look. There is an undeniable similarity in both of their facial structures, their thin black moustaches, and the round nature of their glasses and monocle. However, other Red Dead Redemption 2 characters that are based on real-world figures, such as Leviticus Cornwall's resemblance to Andrew Carnegie, usually go deeper than just appearances, and Algernon Wasp doesn't quite match Stravinsky on that level. The two characters have very different occupations and personalities. Algernon Wasp is very flamboyant and eccentric and is hinted to be bulimic, while Stravinsky was reportedly a soft-spoken man with a passion for learning about and exploring the arts.

However, video games pull inspiration from all kinds of sources, and it is more than feasible that the designers at Rockstar games pulled inspiration from Stravinsky's appearance without the character necessarily being inspired by him. Whether or not the similarities are intentional, the comparison is a cool detail for fans to appreciate, and it just adds to the list of crazy details in Red Dead Redemption 2 that players are still just finding now. Surely, Red Dead Redemption 2's popularity will continue for some time yet, and more details will surely be found by eagle-eyed players.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
