The high octane space flight and fight cockpit simulator releases in just a few days and buzz is starting to spread. The game seems to put fun over realism as a central premise and is all about turning up the volume on the radio and blasting through the galaxy to hunt down a killer and outrun the debt the protagonist has racked up along the way.

The developers haven't ruled out the possibility of an Xbox One port, but it is not currently in development.

Nope! Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is actually the prequel to 2015's Rebel Galaxy. In that game, players controlled capital ships and couldn't fly up or down. What's Rebel Galaxy Outlaw about?

In Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, players take control of Juno. She's a tough as nail pilot who is on the hunt for her husband's murderer.

Juno Markev was an outlaw and smuggler who went straight and settled down, until her husband was murdered on what should have been a simple shipping run. She’s on the trail of the guy that did it.

Things don’t go as planned, After an encounter in a shady watering hole goes bad, her ship is destroyed. She finds herself in debt to an old friend and casino owner who gives her a rustbucket and some words of advice.

Early impressions of the game seem to be very positive so far. A few critics have commented on an early grind as the campaign is picking up steam, but the joyful approach to space flight and combat seem to be winning people over. The title likely isn't for gamers who prefer a very realistic, physics-based approach to flight sims. If that's what you are after, Rebel Galaxy Outlaw sounds like it might be the wrong kind of game for you. More reviews will arrive in the next few days and shed additional light on the game's other details.

On the other hand, gamers who want to shot pool and roll dice in shady bars in between fast-paced space combat missions are likely going to get a kick out of this one. It's unclear how long the game's story mode will take to play through, but we should know more about that in just a day or two when the title officially launches. Between Rebel Galaxy Outlaw and the upcoming major No Man's Sky content update; it seems like a great time to be a fan of space exploration.
