Reacher season 2, episode 6 sees the death of a major character, leaving fans devastated and anxious over which character could die next in the Prime Video series. Gaitano 'Gus' Russo was portrayed as a possible leak in the police force, who was feeding information to Shane Langston, but it was confirmed in this episode that this wasn't the case at all. Russo was an honest cop trying to help Reacher and his former members of the 110th Special Investigations Unit.
Russo confronts one of the real villains in Reacher season 2, and it turns out to be Lieutenant Marsh, who is feeding information to Langston and tries to get him to turn dirty as well. He earns the respect and trust of Reacher, and is entrusted with protecting Marlo Burns' daughter, Jane, but things go badly as they often do in Reacher, and he pays for his refusal to turn to the dark side in the final moments of episode 6.
Which character died in episode 6 of season 2?
Gaitano 'Guy' Russo was the unfortunate main character who lost his life in episode 6 of Reacher season 2, but he died a hero, as he protected Marlo Burns' daughter, Jane, from an attack by season 2 villain, Shane Langston's group of hired henchmen.
Guy Russo was introduced in the first episode of season 2, as the mysterious man in the Black Sudan, who was spying on the 110th as they left Swan's house. Reacher decides he’s going to introduce himself to the man and wanders over to his car and kicks the front of it and the airbag releases in Russo's face. Russo gets out of the car, and Reacher headbutts him and beats him up. They check his ID and this is when Reacher realizes he's made a big mistake, as Russo is an NYPD cop.
Reacher and his team escape from Russo, but he eventually catches up to them, and arrests Reacher for the assault and brings him in for questioning. Russo is suspicious of him and vice versa but they reluctantly share information with each other. As the season progresses, Russo and Reacher continue to butt heads, and it all boils over again at Franz's funeral when Reacher accuses Russo of being a dirty cop after he comforts Franz's widow and young son.
Russo insists he's being supportive as he was in the child’s position when he was younger. Russo reveals that after a background check, he found Langston and his cronies at New Age are all former dirty NYPD cops, with the only exception being former 100th member, Swan. A sniper interrupts the funeral, and Russo and Reacher join forces to chase one of the shooters who escapes. .
In episode 6's 'New York's Finest', Russo confronts Lieutenant Marsh at his home, and tells him he knows he’s the one who sold out the 110th to Shane Langston because he is working for them. Marsh reveals he is working for Langston and New Age because it’s the “smart play.” Marsh tries to get Russo to join his side, but Russo refuses as he's not a dirty cop.
Russo informs Reacher of Marsh being dirty, and agrees to look after Marlo Burns' daughter, Jane as he is skipping town to stay with his cousin on Staten Island until everything blows over. The 110th head off to try and ambush Langston and his men, using Burns as a decoy. While this is going on, Russo’s car gets attacked by Langston’s henchmen.
Russo tells Jane to make a run for it, and he manages to take out two of the shooters but is shot in the process and drops to the ground. The third shooter catches up to Jane, but Frances Neagley turns up in time to take him down. The team notice Russo is lying on the road, so they call 911 while Neagley breaks her no touching rule to hold onto Russo’s hand as he dies.

The Reacher season 2 actor who plays Gaitano 'Guy' Russo in Reacher season 2 is the seasoned character actor, Domenick Lombardozzi. He was born on March 2, 1976, in the Bronx, New York. He is known for playing a mixture of Mobsters and police officers throughout his successful career in movies and television.
Lombardozzi is most famous for his breakout role in The Wire, playing Detective Thomas 'Herk' Hauk throughout the five-season run of the HBO series. It is widely considered to be one of the best television shows of all time. He currently plays Charles 'Chickie' Invernizzi in the Paramount Plus hit Mob drama, Tulsa King, alongside Sylvester Stallone. Season 1 was a massive success, leading to the official announcement of Season 2 in December of last year.
