Chapter 1 of Separate Ways continues the story from when Luis gets captured by the Zealots. In this initial mission, Ada infiltrates the Castle and rescues Luis, but her main objective is to obtain the Amber. Although this chapter is brief, it introduces some challenging sections and new elements, such as the Grapple Gun, which may confuse some players. Separate Ways Chapter 1 Objectives
As an introductory mission, the first chapter in Separate Ways has only four objectives:
- Escape from the Dungeons
- Fight the Black Robe
- Head for the Exit
- Escape from the Castle
How to Complete Chapter 1
To wrap up this mission, players will need to help Luis escape the Castle prison. For that, they must first follow him into the Audience Chamber, defeat the mid-chapter boss, and escape the area. Here’s how to do so.
Follow Luis into the Audience Chamber
After the first cutscene, Ada must let Luis lead the way. Since the goal of this objective is to go over the controls, all players will need to do is follow him and press the button prompts along the way.
Defeat the Black Robe
To beat the first boss in Separate Ways, players will need to circle around the Audience Chamber and shoot the Black Robe’s head. When he summons his shadows, players must avoid the clones and shoot the creature with glowing red eyes.
During this boss fight, the Black Robe will try to hit players with two main attacks: A lunge and a strike. Luckily, both moves are avoidable; press LB (L1) to block his lunges and B (Circle) to evade the strikes.
Destroy the Catapults and Escape the Castle
Upon defeating the Black Robe, players will need to exit the Chamber and grapple to the nearby tower. From there, they must defeat all the Zealots, disable catapults, and leave the area.
Here’s the best strategy:
- Stealthily kill the first three Zealots on the left. (Sneak behind them and press RT or R2 on PlayStation.)
- Go down the ladder and enter the first room on the left. (This is the room where players find a caged catapult.)
- Break the weight that’s holding the catapult down.
- Go up the stairs and press A (X on PS) to use the catapult.
- Destroy all other catapults and Zealots.
Finally, use the Grapple Gun to reach the other end of the Castle and leave the area to conclude the Chapter.
All Treasure Locations in Chapter 1
Players can find three treasures in Separate Ways’s first chapter: An Elegant Headdress, a Splendid Bangle, and a Red Ruby. All of them are located in the Castle Gate area, where Zealots and catapults attack the player.
- The Elegant Headdress can be found on the far north side of the Caste Gate. (This is where Leon destroyed another catapult previously.)
- A Splendid Bangle is to the left of the fountain gazebos in the Castle Gate. (Go downstairs and look behind the boxes on the left.)
- A Red Ruby sits on the box past the spiked fences. (Just below the last tower in the Castle Gate area.)
