5 Things GTA 6 Should Emulate From Red Dead Redemption 2

Just as there are numerous changes Rockstar's new Grand Theft Auto installment should make from Red Dead Redemption 2, there are some it should keep.

While the leaks indicated that many of the mechanics that are part of Red Dead Redemption 2's core will likely be present in GTA 6, there are a number of them that will stand as significant additions. Within the realm of free roam and immersion, many of these elements along with the unseen implementations have the potential to take Rockstar's new Grand Theft Auto entry to another level.

5 Threatening NPCs/Warning Shots

Threatening NPC

Despite this mechanic already being somewhat present in GTA 5 from the very first bank robbery mission, Red Dead Redemption 2 took it up to another scale entirely. With the option to rob any NPC Arthur Morgan or John Marston come across, players have the option to let off warning shots by aiming up using the directional button.

This can also be used to threaten witnesses who are adamant about reporting crimes committed, and this was not only helpful for players playing as outlaws, but it stands as a huge immersion improvement. Considering the likelihood of an increased population and NPCs widespread all over GTA 6's map in a modern-day setting, this mechanic will be crucial for players who wish to keep law enforcement off their backs.

4 NPCs With Good Memory

NPCs

In multiple occurrences during free roam in Red Dead Redemption 2, players are reminded of just how much Rockstar has ensured the world is full of life and realistic circumstances. Notable in the aftermath of committing heinous crimes or helping particular NPCs by giving them medication or money, if players happen to bump into these NPCs at any time afterward, they will be reminded and possibly rewarded by them depending on the act.

10 Game Worlds With The Most Fully Realized NPCs

NPCs can make or break a game's world. The following ten games are filled with interesting NPCs that add significant personality to their worlds.

Examples are shown when a widow confronts the player accusing them of killing their husband, and this all contributes to the matter of players witnessing the consequences of their actions with its morality system. If this mechanic can be replicated in GTA 6, it has the potential to have an even greater effect, as developers could implement a plethora of consequences or retaliations from NPCs that derive from players' actions.

3 Hair/Clothing Physics

Arthur Morgan

One of the most impressive factors in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the presence of general needs and necessities for either Arthur or John, which includes a weight system, hunger, fatigue, and much more. More notably regarding stepping up from GTA 5, the realism in hair and clothing physics helps Red Dead Redemption 2's high level of praise. Unlike previous Grand Theft Auto titles, players can not just enter any hair salon and apply facial hair or hairstyles if there is no hair present on the player's character.

Players can use items such as hair tonics to help for faster hair growth and if left alone, will grow a great deal of hair. With clothing, despite it being frustrating for some players, hats that are purchased and worn can very easily be knocked off if players engage in combat or fall off of their horse accidentally, and GTA 6 will largely benefit from these physics, keeping immersion levels high.

2 Bounties For NPCs

Aside from players acting as outlaws in Red Dead Redemption 2, the same can be said about many of the world's NPCs. Side missions present can allow players to go off on bounty hunts looking for other criminals who are on the run, who can either be brought in dead or alive. Considering the Wild West setting of Red Dead Redemption 2, this would have been a realistic way of going about it.

Red Dead Online: 14 Best Purchases For The Bounty Hunter Role

Bounty Hunters need the right tools for the job. When playing this role in Rockstar's Red Dead Online, these purchases should be considered a must.

With GTA 6, this would need to be reconstructed into a modern standard that is more aligned with rewards that are given for sighting a criminal or passing on information on their whereabouts. While this would be dependent on the two main characters who are shown to be criminals themselves based on leaks, seeing this feature present in one form or another would be impressive.

1 Jail Time/Ambulance

Characters on the run and in shootout

When captured by Sheriffs and law enforcement after choosing to surrender, a small cutscene will play out that depicts Arthur locked up in jail for his crimes. This works hand-in-hand with the game's wanted system, as officers may recognize players when riding through populated areas, or regions where recent shootouts with the law have occurred.

In the aspect of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, there is yet to be a title that contains a system as such, and developers at Rockstar have the perfect opportunity to implement this feature in the game. The same could be done if players are injured or gunned down in combat, resulting in them being placed in hospital in the same manner Red Dead Redemption 2 has done with its brief cutscene of jail time. Whether this could be done briefly or make players spend time in jail controlling the characters, it will massively improve the experience overall.
