Razer has come up with a new SKU of its classic Wireless Controller for the Xbox One and Series consoles, featuring a refreshed look for the tried-and-true design. The maker of various gaming hardware has had a fair few Xbox and Xbox-adjacent controller designs over the years, but it seems that the company has decided to fall back on something closer to the baseline for the limited edition of its latest release.

While Razer does sometimes end up using more subdued designs and colorways for its gaming hardware, it is most commonly known for its stark black-and-green aesthetic with an RGB detailing featured along the way. This same aesthetic can be applied in a wide variety of ways, but it's not often that it gets used alongside translucent, see-through plastics in this day and age, which is where the company's new Xbox Wireless Controller comes in.

While Microsoft is dealing with a controller shortage, Razer is announcing that its latest limited-edition Wireless Xbox Controller with a Quick Charging Station is now available for preorder exclusively in the US and Canada. Priced at $199, this controller/charger combo features Razer's iconic visual flair with the added bonus of having key sections of its chassis almost entirely translucent, which is bound to be popular with fans of see-through tech. The controller doesn't come with the Xbox Wireless Adapter, however, and instead relies on Bluetooth to connect to consoles, mobile devices, and PCs.

The controller connects to its charging station using a special magnetic interface and has a few key improvements to the Xbox baseline design. Razer specifically highlights the use of impulse analog triggers, which should make for a more dynamic and precise gaming experience across the board. Though some of Razer's products can stop bullets, it is currently unknown whether this new controller SKU can do the same, should the need arise.

Of course, it is worth pointing out that Razer's new limited-edition controller is, indeed, still a mostly basic wireless Xbox Series controller. Features-wise, it pales compared to Microsoft's Elite offerings, and the upcoming PS5 DualSense Edge will still offer way more functionality even on PC. Still, those who want a tried-and-true gaming controller that does almost everything right could do way worse in most respects.

Far as its other dealings go, Razer recently revealed its Steam Deck competitor. Granted, the device seems to be aiming primarily at game streaming solutions rather than native gaming functionality, and it's going to offer 5G connectivity to better facilitate such a high-intensity connection. Pricing details and the specifics of its hardware capabilities are yet to be fully revealed.
