Road 96 is a 2021 adventure role-playing game that draws inspiration from 90s road movies. Developed by DigixArt, a French video game studio known for its innovative technology and interactive storytelling techniques, the game offers players a truly immersive and captivating experience. With the prequel, players can expect even more opportunities to explore the rich narrative and gameplay of Road 96.

In Road 96, players are placed in the shoes of various teenage hitchhikers seeking to escape the tyrannical state of Petria, and experience a branching story with multiple endings. The game is played in first-person perspective, tasking players with evading capture or death as they endeavor to cross the border. Each attempt, whether successful or not, leads the player to take control of another teenager, with each crossing adding to the game's overarching narrative.

According to reports, the prequel of Road 96 is called prequel Road 96: Mile 0 and will be released on April 4. In Road 96: Mile 0, players embark on an intriguing journey with Zoe and Kaito, two characters whose backgrounds couldn't be more distinct. While Zoe, a familiar face from the previous game, comes from a privileged background with her father serving as the Minister of Oil, Kaito, a new addition to the story from DigixArt's first game, Lost in Harmony, hails from the impoverished city of Colton. As the game progresses, players will bear witness to the unlikely friendship that develops between these two characters as they navigate the events leading up to the main story of Road 96.

As their friendship deepens, Kaito guides Zoe on a journey of self-discovery, helping her to uncover the unsettling truths about her country and her own family. This newfound knowledge leads Zoe to question everything she previously believed, and players will be able to experience this transformation alongside her. Through the course of their relationship, players will uncover the motivations behind Zoe's decision to leave her comfortable life behind and discover the secrets that lie behind the 1986 Border Attack, the catalyst for the events of Road 96.
