Insomniac Games shared 15 minutes of gameplay for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart at the PlayStation State of Play. The 15-minute gameplay video showed off impressive features for the upcoming title including a photo mode, PS5 DualSense controller support, some Rivet gameplay, and a wide range of accessibility options. More and more gaming titles are offering deep accessibility options, and based on the State of Play gameplay trailer, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart has some of the most in-depth accessibility options of recent games.

During the Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart gameplay trailer, the settings screen is shown, and the first section is fully customizable HUD options. Players can choose to display HUD elements such as a center dot, icon and prompt sizes, and pop-up prompts. Elements of HUD can also be customized by color including the text, aim arcs, and targeting. Each HUD element has eight colors to choose from, which is a cool customization option, but can also help colorblind gamers and those with limited sight.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will also feature camera accessibility options including motion blur, film grain, and camera sensitivity. The game also has an extremely useful shader option, which will allow players to shade different objects such as enemies, allies, and hazards in different colors to help improve visibility. The accessibility options seem like they will be very helpful to gamers with disabilities, and hopefully the options can help all gamers enjoy the game.

The accessibility options also include customizable gameplay including simplified traversal, a ledge guard, button press options, and a flight assist mode. These options can make the game a little bit more easy to navigate and may also help gamers who are unable to press buttons as quickly or have accessibility controllers.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is not the first PS5 exclusive to have an extensive list of accessibility options. Spider-Man: Miles Morales released with an impressive list of accessibility options. With the PlayStation 5's capabilities, more accessibility options are being made possible for gamers around the world. Not only are developers focused on adding accessibility options, but consoles are also as well.

Xbox recently shared its vision for making more accessible games. The Microsoft Gaming Accessibility team remains a primary focus at the company as it strives to keep increasing the number of accessible titles and hardware. A recent Sony patent could indicate the company's focus on accessibility. The AI patent will allow the company to utilize common accessibility options with more ease. The patent is intended to create a program that will cut down time and financials for creating accessibility options, thus making them more widely available in games.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will release on June 11, 2021, for PS5.
