Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is one of the biggest PlayStation exclusives releasing this year, and is apparently custom-tailored to the PS5's hardware. If it wasn't already clear that the game would be taking advantage of the new console's power from Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart's gameplay reveal, Sony's latest State of Play is here to further eliminate any doubts players may have.

Showing off roughly 16 minutes of gameplay, the new Ratchet and Clank demo gives fans a better idea of what to expect from the game when it launches in June. As mentioned throughout the footage, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will utilize the PS5 hardware's unique capabilities in more ways than one, including that of the DualSense controller, which emphasizes haptic feedback while playing games.

The PS5's power is going to make the game feel a lot snappier than its predecessor, with the console's SSD – which Sony hailed as revolutionary leading up to the console's launch – allowing players to teleport to new locations almost instantly. The steady decrease of load times has been a big selling point of both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, and while not every game can claim to be so quick, it seems to be a trend with first-party PS5 games.

There's also a mechanic called the Rift Tether, which allows players to instantly pull themselves across the battlefield, according to the demo's narrator. The Rift Tether is pretty snappy, and while it may not seem that impressive on the surface, it's definitely evidence of why the game is a PS5 exclusive from a technical standpoint.

Of course, the DualSense will be on full display when players fire Rift Apart's arsenal of weapons. The demo narrator cites the game using haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers, which are quickly becoming standard with PS5's games, as demonstrated by titles like Returnal. It's hard to say how the game will feel without getting hands on it, but it does seem to be increasingly emphasized by PlayStation.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is just a few weeks away. This will likely be the last significant look that players get at the game, though there's still the possibility for new trailers and details to release along the way. It's one of PlayStation's longest-running franchises, and it will be interesting to see if it continues Insomniac Games' hot streak of new game releases. With any luck, it'll be exactly what fans are after.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will release on June 11, 2021, for PS5.
