10 Rarest PS4 Games (& How Much They're Worth)

From niche indie titles, to limited collector's editions, some rare PS4 games can go for thousands of dollars.

Xbox 360 games didn't really see a remarkable increase in price up until fairly recently, and with the current trend of returning to old-but-gold games and consoles, it would be a shame to overlook this legendary system and its fantastic library of games. Some of the rarest and most expensive Xbox 360 games may surprise fans of the console, with one particular character stealing the show.

All prices were taken from PriceCharting.com and were accurate at the time of publication.

Updated December 30 by Stephen LaGioia: When it comes to rare, collectible video games, Microsoft's sophomore console isn't usually the first to come to mind. But as the console is now verging on retro-status (my, how time flies), the vast, established library is increasingly becoming home to some rare, coveted titles.

Of course, the value and scarcity of these games are fluid and subject to change, but at the time of this writing, there are more than a few notable examples. We've decided to refresh this list and highlight some more of them. Bear in mind that this list includes only standalone, core retail games and excludes bundles or limited/special editions.

Based on the 1960's comic book which capitalized on the Mexico City Olympics taking place at the time, this game emerged from the similarly zany franchise at large. In it, the ancient warrior duo of Asterix and Obelix aim to be victorious in the Olympic Games to help their aply-named friend Lovestorix in wedding the Princess Irina.

The decieving Brutus, however, attempts to thwart these attempts while simultaneously removing the threat of Julius Caesar. The gameplay proves fitting with the cartoony, over-the-top nature of this title, as players swap between the distinct duo in 3D platforming mayhem. Mixed among this journey are various trials and challenges — often aided by their javelin and hammer.

While the PS2 version had its massive userbase and the Wii boasted motion controls, the even more obscure 360 game didn't make much of a dent. Over a decade later, however, Asterix at the Olympic Games stands among the rarer titles on Xbox, and a curiosity for the console's library.

The Spyro franchise has a few underrated gems in its portfolio that fans shouldn't miss.

Wielding basic attacks along with fire, ice, electricity, and earth powers, Spyro will power his way through foes in satisfying fashion. As it earned mixed reception with some spotty gameplay, and being overshadowed by the PS2 and Wii versions, this 360 installment fell into obscurity fairly quickly. As a result, scoring this title in new condition costs more than the typical modern game, despite being a decade and a half older.

While there's no shortage of great racing titles on the 360 and elsewhere, the same can't quite be said for horse-racing romps. Perhaps it's the limited audience, or maybe the tricky physics involved with making a fluid, detailed horse-racing game, but the genre hasn't exactly thrived over the years.

Thus, it's no surprise that this sequel fell under the radar, even dating back to its 2009 release for 360 in the PAL regions. Like its predecessor, the game brings an amusing racing alternative — along with various challenges — to horse-lovers as well as younger audiences.

The NBA Live series is known for its blend of detailed and accessible basketball gameplay — and this trend continues with this entry, which allows shooting via right stick flicks. While it wouldn't seem to stand out among the many other installments of this NBA franchise, NBA Elite 11 has the distinction of being highly valuable.

Serving as the 360's version of NES' rare gameStadium Events, this sports romp is perhaps the holy grail of the console by way of its immense rarity. The reason can be pointed to the game's cancellation following a very brief release, as only a tiny supply escaped into the hands of consumers.

New copies have been spotted in the wild for over $5,000, though some have been listed and even sold for three or four times that amount.
