As yet another year of Rainbow Six Siege draws to a close, Ubisoft has revealed that Year 7, Season 4 will be especially big for the game. Among a whole host of other exciting content, Rainbow Six Siege will be adding another operator to its roster - one intended to be played as a defender.

The last operator to join Rainbow Six Siege was Grim, an attacker capable of releasing a swarm of bots that would track the location of any opponent forced to walk through them. Prior to him came Sens, another attacker designed around providing covering fire and area control to his team. In fact, the last defender to be released came all the way back in March, with Azami. However, the official trailer for Year 7, Season 4 of Rainbow Six Siege has revealed that another defender will be joining the ranks of Rainbow Six Siege in the coming weeks.

Despite Rainbow Six Siege having announced console crossplay, revamps to its battle pass and ranked systems, and even a new map for the game, many fans are talking about Solis, a Colombian operator designed to be played as a defender, who will hit live servers on December 6 as part of the Operation Solar Raid event. Focusing on obtaining intelligence and passing it off to her team, Solis can use a Spec-IO Electro-Sensor, perhaps more simply described as an augmented reality visor, to locate enemy utility through walls, ceilings, and floors. Though only Solis can see initially see the enemy gadgets located during a scan, her second ability allows her to send a ping which marks the locations of all the enemy items she has found on the screens of her teammates.

While this ability will likely be very strong, one drawback of it is that Solis must put away her gun in order to scan her surrounding environment - leaving her particularly vulnerable to any unseen advances from some of the strongest attackers in Rainbow Six Siege. In terms of stats, Solis as an operator has two speed and two health, wielding the P90 SMG or ITA12L shotgun as a primary weapon and the SMG-11 as a secondary. She can also pick to use either a bulletproof camera or impact grenade.

Ultimately, the success of Solis will boil down to whether she can stay ahead of the enemy team, meaning those playing her will have to be coordinated enough to gather information and relay it to their teammates before they are overrun by the attacking team. Solis can currently be played on the Rainbow Six Siege Test Server, and will officially release as part of Operation Solar Raid on December 6, 2022, being the first defender added to the game since Rainbow Six Siege released Azami.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
