As many attendees of E3 2018 would likely attest, the forthcoming first-person shooter from Bethesda, id Software, and Avalanche Studios, Rage 2, was easily one of the best games on-hand at the event. Of course, not everyone has been able to try out what the title will be offering, so its creators decided to provide an extended gameplay trailer for the project during QuakeCon 2018 that highlights story details, vehicle combat, and more.

As lots of Rage 2 fans will be quick to note that some of the action on display in the gameplay trailer below has been previously seen at E3 2018, but the new video manages to effectively edit it all together so that players can see how missions will be structured. Plus, the footage also explains how the sequel is set 30 years after the events of the first game, with the planet recovering from a global catastrophe, as its jungles, deserts, wetlands, and other biomes recuperate from the fallout.

Rage 2's campaign will have players taking on the role of a character from Vineland, which is an area of the wetlands that the protagonist is forced to flee from after the new resurgence of the Authority. During a specific mission, players will be reintroduced to the likes of the original game's resident scientist Dr. Kvasir, take part in some explosive vehicular combat, and then clear out the Eden Space Port, which is chock full of raider-type enemies called Goon Squad.

Taking all of this into account, Rage 2 is definitely looking like a major improvement over its predecessor, for not only does the combat seem to be even faster and more refined than the original, but also the sequel boasts an actual open world honed by the team at Avalanche Studios that will host meaningful vehicular battles. Not to mention, with Rage 2 also boasting that it has no load times, many are expecting the experience as a whole to be one smooth and seamless ride, which would be a major plus.

Rage 2 is set to release in spring 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
