Titanium is mostly useless during the early stages of Raft. The only item in the research table that asks for it is the advanced collection net, which simply holds more items than a regular collection net. For players who stay on top of this task, the expense of an advanced net isn't needed.

However, all this changes in the later parts of Raft. Many of the blueprints found on the game's last few story islands demand titanium, including most of the automation equipment and all the best weapons and tools. Not only that, but each of these items demand large amounts of titanium, with each item needing anywhere from 2 to 8 ingots. So where can a player acquire all this material?

Buried Treasure

Raft Buried Safe

The most consistent way players can get titanium ore (which they can then smelt into titanium ingots) is by finding buried treasure. The way they can do this is by building a metal detector, and the blueprints for the metal detector are located in an underwater container off the coast of Caravan Town. If players somehow missed this blueprint on their first visit, they can always return to a story island by using the proper code in the receiver and waiting for the island to respawn. This will give them another chance to find unique items, and all the generic items and enemies will also respawn.

Specifically, the three main types of buried treasure are junk, suitcases, and safes. Each suitcase always contains one titanium ore, and each safe always contains three ores. Both objects can also have more titanium as part of their randomized contents.

Players will visit Caravan Town before they find most of the blueprints that call for titanium, and so they should start searching for buried treasures immediately if they want to have enough titanium on hand when they need it. Luckily, every island (including the small ones) has at least one buried treasure on it, and so every bit of solid land can help players build up their supply.

Trading Posts

Raft Trading Post Tier 3

Of course, there's one other way for players to get large amounts of titanium, and they can access it even earlier than Caravan Town. Every trading post players encounter has titanium ore for sale, and players can buy bundles of three (up to 15 at a single post) in exchange for three trash cubes and one trade coin.

The only trouble is that players must max out their trading post reputation first, because titanium ore is on the tier 3 list of merchandise. To do this, players must buy the special fishing bait available on each tier list, use it to catch unusual fish, and then sell them back to the post in exchange for trade coins and reputation. Doing all this will take some time, trash cubes, and several visits to trading posts, but once it's done players can buy as much titanium ore as they can afford.
