Paramount Pictures has announced the updated release dates for a number of their upcoming films, including the horror prequel A Quite Place: Day One, which will now premiere in theatres in 2024.

The A Quite Place prequel, based on an idea from actor John Krasinski, is set before the events of the first two films in the series. Both films take place in a world that has been overrun with deadly monsters who hunt humans based on sound, which forces everyone to remain as silent as possible at all times.

A Quite Place: Day One will be directed by Michael Sarnoski, who is primarily known for the acclaimed Nicolas Cage film Pig. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film is based on an original idea from Krasinski, who serves as a producer on the film. At the moment it's unclear if any of the previous cast members will be returning for the prequel, but this will be the first film in the series not directed by Krasinski. Paramount announced A Quiet Place: Day One has been moved back six months and will now be released on March 8, 2024.

Also included in the new release schedule is the animated film The Tiger's Apprentice, which had its release pushed back one month to January 19th, 2024. The animated film adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same name features the voice talents of Henry Golding, Lucy Liu, Sandra Oh, Michelle Yeoh, and SNL's Bowen Yang. The 25th-anniversary re-release of James Cameron's historical epic Titanic has also been pushed back by four months and will now be released in theatres on February 10th, 2023.

The first two Quiet Place films were directed and co-written by Krasinski, who starred as the father of a family in the first film. The second film, A Quite Place Part II, followed the events of the first, with the surviving members of the family attempting to survive in a dangerous world full of deadly monsters and desperate people. The first two films also starred Krasinski's real-life partner, actress Emily Blunt, and the second film featured actor Cillian Murphy in a leading role.

Fluctuating release dates have become a recent staple for many films in recent years, largely due to the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, A Quiet Place Part II also had its release date pushed back. The film has its world premiere in March 2020 but wasn't given a wider theatrical release until over a year later in May 2021.

A Quiet Place: Day One will premiere in theatres on March 8, 2024.
