Over the past couple of years, John Krasinski has been delighting audiences with the A Quiet Place franchise, set on a post-apocalyptic Earth besieged by aliens that attack anything which makes a sound. Fans have followed the Abbott family and their fight for survival across two films, a spin-off is set to explore a new part of the franchise in 2024, and A Quiet PlacePart 3 is slated for 2025. While all of these projects are exciting, fans could get a lot out of experiencing this world for themselves.

There is currently A Quiet Place video game in the works from Saber Interactive that will feature an original story, but there has been no news about the project since 2021. It seems like the game is still a ways off, and no one really knows what genre it will fit. Some have speculated it could be a first-person shooter or a horror game, but what would truly capture the essence of the franchise would be a Last of Us-styled adventure.

A Quiet Place and The Last of Us Seem Like the Perfect Match

The Last of Us brings players to a post-apocalyptic world filled with unspeakable horrors and humans fighting for survival. It follows Joel and Ellie as they attempt to get by, with a heavy focus on the relationship between them. While violence and bloodshed plays a big role in the series, their relationship helped make Naughty Dog's story one of the best in gaming, which has led to an equally strong HBO adaptation.

The world of The Last of Us is simply a backdrop that helps define this relationship, and the A Quiet Place franchise has similar intentions. Aliens may be lurking around every corner waiting to pounce, but the focus of the story is on the dynamics between members of the Abbott family, which had to watch the world fall apart in front of them and then grapple with the aftermath. They have gone through so much pain and anguish that it helps define who they are, and that struggle for survival became a fight to save the world in A Quiet Place 2.

Even if it is a different type of apocalypse, A Quiet Place shares a lot of similarities with The Last of Us. Perhaps one of the biggest similarities between these two series is their scariest enemies. The Last of Us has Clickers use echolocation to find their prey, and A Quiet Place has aliens that do the same. If a video game truly wants to capture the feeling of A Quiet Place, it needs to take cues from Naughty Dog's The Last of Us by putting players in control of a family's desperate fight for survival, filled with heart-wrenching moments at every turn. Aliens should be a threatening presence that requires players to stay as quiet as possible, and the remnants of humanity should be just as threatening throughout the narrative.

There are already a lot of similarities between A Quiet Place and The Last of Us for a video game developer to tap into. It could bring fans on an emotional journey through a post-apocalyptic world, and let them watch as characters are shaped by everything around them. That is really the only way to capture what drew people to A Quiet Place in the first place.
