John Krasinski announced during a Paramount investor day that A Quiet Place Part III is officially in the works. The anticipated film is set to be released in 2025 and although no further details have been announced yet, it's only natural for Krasinski to return to the director's chair.

Since its release in 2018, the A Quiet Place franchise has proven to be one of the highest-grossing horror entries of the last few years. The first installment —written by Krasinski, Bryan Woods, and Scott Beck— garnered $340.9 million in worldwide earnings and received critical acclaim, even landing a nomination for Best Sound Editing at the 91st Academy Awards, among other accolades.

A Quiet Place takes place in a world in which Earth has been invaded by grotesque blind aliens who depend on their acute sense of hearing in order to track their prey. Besides writing and directing, Krasinski starred in the first film alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt and had a cameo role on the second installment. The cast also includes Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, both of whom play the couple's onscreen children.

A Quiet Place: Part II was released in May 2021 after multiple delays due to COVID-19. The film, which picked up after the events on the first movie and introduced a new group of survivors, was originally scheduled to debut in March 2020 but got pushed back almost an entire year. However, the delay didn't affect its success and the film grossed $297 million globally —a strong performance amid the pandemic.

In fact, the A Quiet Place franchise has become so successful that Paramount is currently developing a spinoff, with Pig's Michael Sarnoski attached to direct. While cast and plot details remain under wraps, it's unlikely that Blunt and company will reprise their roles or appear front and center, especially since Part II brought in a new set of characters. The spinoff, which had initially been slated for a March 2023 release, has been delayed and is now expected to hit theaters on September 22, 2023.

But the A Quiet Place Universe isn't only limited to the cinematic medium. In addition to the upcoming sequel and spinoff, Paramount announced last year that a Quiet Place video game is in the works. Unfortunately, just like other A Quiet Place-related projects, not much else is known about the forthcoming videogame other than it's currently being developed by Saber Interactive, iLLOGIKA, and EP1T0ME.

A Quiet Place Part I and II are streaming on Paramount Plus.
