Quantum Error debuted a new trailer during Gamescom's Opening Night Live, offering fans a look at the horror game in action. There's quite a bit for fans to take in from the gameplay, and it's certainly one of the more intense trailers shown at Gamescom.

The trailer shows off a few different aspects about Quantum Errorfrom its brutal-looking combat to its horror environments. Clocking in at about a minute, it's a decent look at the title, which has remained a relative mystery despite its appeal to horror fans. There are multiple looks at the game's enemies, some of which appear to be gnarly, fleshy skeletons, as well as some of the game's environments.

The game almost looks like a blend of Alien Isolation and Resident Evil 7with violent enemies distributed throughout a space station. The game doesn't look as polished as some of the major games currently available on the market, though it is still a work in progress, so that may very well change in the lead up to release.

Polish aside, it seems like an interesting concept. While the trailer is still very much a teaser, the tidbits fans do get to see from the campaign offers some interesting narrative elements. There's a strange artifact, corporate-looking characters, and a few smaller aspects sprinkled in. The trailer appeared during the pre-show, so there's a chance many fans ended up missing it, though, for fans of horror games, it's worth checking out, at the very least.

More details will likely emerge about the game as time presses on. The next year seems to be full of highly anticipated horror games, so Quantum Error will undoubtedly have some competition in the future. That's not a bad thing, as competition drives better experiences, though it remains to be seen how well Quantum Error will compare to the competition.

The game still has no release date, but it's slated to launch on both the PS4 and PS5. With any luck, it will be able to provide horror game fans with another terrifying experience to work through, though it seems like there will be far more bullets involved than some of the slower horror titles on the market, so even Doom fans may be able to find a place here, though that depends on how well executed Quantum Error's launch is.

Quantum Error is currently in development for PS4 and PS5.
