  • The Xbox Series X/S versions of Quantum Error may have loading screens, while the PS5 version is seamless.
  • Each version of Quantum Error will take advantage of the specific features of the platform it is being played on, such as the PS5's fast SSD and the PC version's optimization for Nvidia technology.

The Xbox version of the upcoming cosmic horror game Quantum Error could have loading screens, whereas the PS5 will not. Quantum Error was first announced for PS5 back in 2020 from developer TeamKill Media. Quantum Error is a cosmic horror first-person shooter that starts with a group of firefighters being brought in to save people from a burning lab in San Francisco. Things are not what they initially seem, as the player starts uncovering plenty of dark secrets as they explore the complex further.

While the game was first announced as a PS5 exclusive, the subsequent years would have it lose that exclusivity. This was confirmed with the announcement that Quantum Error would be coming to the Xbox Series X/S, as well as PC. According to the developers, this move was made to allow more players to experience the game regardless of platform, though the decision was met with a mixed response. Those looking forward to the game might be split again due to the Xbox Series X/S versions of the game having a possible downgrade due to the console's architecture and SSD.

The official Twitter account for Quantum Error was asked how the development progress of the game was, replying that everything is "pretty much done" and that the developers were doing quality assurance and optimization for the different versions. One thing that was mentioned was that Quantum Error was developed with the PS5's extremely fast SSD in mind, but with the Xbox Series X/S' slower SSD, things would have to be changed in order to make up the difference in speed. As a result, the game may need to implement loading screens on Xbox, while the PS5 version is entirely seamless.

The PS5's SSD has been a rather incredible piece of hardware for the console. The Quantum Error Twitter account also stated that each version of the game will take advantage of the specific platform's features. This means different features depending on the console, such as the PC port that is current in development looking to take advantage of the tech offered by Nvidia.

Based on the account's comments, it seems like Quantum Error will be going gold as soon as it passes the quality assurance tests and optimization. The reply also seems to indicate that the PC version of the game has started development too. Fans will just need to wait and see how the multiple versions of Quantum Error stack up when more information about them has been unveiled.

Quantum Error is currently in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
