Alan Wake 2 will be including Quantum Break alumnus Shawn Ashmore in its cast. With Alan Wake 2 releasing on October 2023, more details are slowly surfacing as the date draws nearer. Revelations of many characters, plot points, and visual details continue to be reported. While the date of release may have been moved from its original announcement, the extra time gained is being used to heavily promote facets of the upcoming action-adventure title.

The first game was considered to be one of the scariest titles to ever hit the Xbox 360 during its release. However, per recent reports, there seem to be a few differences in how Alan Wake 2 approaches gameplay. Remedy Entertainment's Sam Lake has mentioned how big the shift is for the new game. An emphasis on survival horror is being highlighted as the title tries its hand at slower-paced combat. Lake's vision for the title looks to be interesting, as he continues to announce several improvements for the game. One of these interesting developments would be the casting of actors.

According to Sam Lake's Twitter, Quantum Break alumnus Shawn Ashmore will be making his debut in Alan Wake 2. Ashmore played the main protagonist Jack Joyce in Quantum Break, though in Alan Wake 2, he'll be playing the role of the new character Tim Breaker. While no details for Breaker had been revealed, he was referred to as sheriff, implying that the role would be of the law-enforcement kind. In the same tweet, Ashmore revealed his love for the first Alan Wake, solidifying his ties to the franchise.

For many, Alan Wake and Quantum Break are among some of Remedy's best games. Many of Remedy's titles share a similar style, look, and even gameplay nuances. There's a chance Quantum Break fans will be excited once Sheriff Tim Breaker's previews are revealed. Perhaps even more conspiracy theories may come up after a detailed announcement, as it is implied that many of Remedy's games occupy the same game world.

Remedy Entertainment had previously introduced what most refer to as the Remedy Connected Universe. Alan Wake and Control both occupy the said space, meaning that some assets could possibly be shared. In the same sense, some Alan Wake references could also be found in Quantum Break. If this is the case, Jack Joyce and Sheriff Tim Breaker, who are both played by Ashmore, could share the same face, or maybe even be the same person. However, with Quantum Break's story dealing with parallel universes, there could be a chance that the characters do not occupy the same exact world. Fans may have to wait a little longer for the whole reveal once more Alan Wake 2 announcements come out.

Alan Wake 2 releases on October 27, 2023, for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
